Human Resources (HR) Assistant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team in East Syracuse, New York. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a pivotal role in supporting HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and payroll processing. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic work environment while ensuring compliance and fostering positive employee experiences.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate the onboarding process by reviewing new employee paperwork and ensuring compliance with employment regulations.

Monitor and manage employee training programs and handbook distribution through HR systems.

Conduct background checks and ensure pre-employment screenings are completed accurately.

Maintain and update employee records, including I-9 forms, E-Verify submissions, and status changes.

Process payroll, commissions, and employee reimbursements with attention to detail.

Support employee relations by addressing inquiries, resolving conflicts, and providing guidance on HR policies.

Collaborate on HR initiatives such as performance management, employee engagement, and talent development.

Perform audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.

Record meeting minutes and maintain accurate documentation for employee files.

Assist in creating and updating standard operating procedures using AI tools. Requirements - Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent experience of 2-3 years in human resources or payroll is acceptable.

Proficiency in HR administration, including onboarding, employee relations, and background checks.

Familiarity with HRIS systems and data management.

Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Experience with payroll and benefits processing is a plus.
