Accounts Receivable Specialist - Construction Accounting Experience

Employment Type: Contract

Compensation: $25 - $32

About the Role

Are you an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist with a background in construction accounting? Robert Half is partnering with a top-tier construction company in the Livermore area to find a skilled and talented accounts receivable specialist to join their team. This is your opportunity to bring your talents to a dynamic, fast-paced environment and support projects that shape local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and cash application to ensure timely and accurate processing.

Monitor accounts for discrepancies, research client account issues, and resolve billing inquiries.

Reconcile client accounts, including project-based billing for construction contracts and retained earnings.

Prepare AR aging reports and track outstanding payments to maintain company cash flow targets.

Partner with the project management and accounting teams to verify compliance with construction contracts, lien waivers, and retainage requirements.

Ensure adherence to GAAP and construction accounting standards in AR functions.

Requirements

Requirements:

3+ years of accounts receivable experience in a construction or project-based accounting environment.

Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including familiarity with AIA (American Institute of Architects) billing and retainage.

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.).

Excellent organizational skills to handle a high volume of transactions.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with clients and internal teams.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
