Summary This position serves in the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service Line at the Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System (CAVHS) located in North Little Rock, AR. The incumbent's major duties are to serve as administrative expert for professional staff in the Adult Day Health Care Program (ADHC) and to the ADHC Program Coordinator. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Comprehensive administrative/clerical support; screens/reviews incoming correspondence and determines deadlines and routes appropriately; prepares/mails correspondence. Makes telephone calls; sends letters/faxes. Scheduler; makes appointments, checks in/out, ensures no-shows/cancellations updated. Receives and processes document and reports; review documents for completeness and enter pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data. Serves as primary and/or alternate timekeeper for various time and leave units, performing all associated duties in an accurate and timely manner. Performs work of a general office support nature independently which encompasses a variety of different duties and responsibilities such as filing, maintains records and logs, calendars, and other miscellaneous duties. Skill in oral and written communication in order to communicate with a wide variety of persons such as staff; VA officials, and outside groups via telephone calls, letters, memos, etc. Establishes and maintains both a paper filing system and a computerized database for accounting records. Uses multiple Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Creates and maintains Excel spreadsheets for accounting purposes. Time-In-Grade Requirement: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Occasional walking is necessary during the day while escorting Veterans.
