About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Investment Banking Vice President for the Leveraged Underwriting group within Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB). The position is focused on underwriting, structuring, and executing complex, fast-moving, leveraged transactions that support Corporate and Sponsor clients across a diverse range of industries within Wells Fargo's Leveraged Underwriting Group. This role will work closely with Leveraged Finance Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Sponsor Coverage, Capital Management, Industry Coverage, and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) teams to originate and execute new transactions.

In this role, you will:
Lead the underwriting and partner with Leveraged Finance and Sponsor Coverage to structure and execute complex, fast-moving, leveraged acquisition finance, financial sponsor, and pre-IPO transactions, directing the credit and distribution approval processes to support new originations
Drive the coordination with Leveraged Finance, Sponsor Coverage, Portfolio Management, and Industry Coverage partners to seamlessly execute on new client originations
Oversee deal teams responsible for complex transaction and credit analysis including in- depth due diligence, financial analysis and modeling, comp analysis, industry diligence, and the creation of concise credit approval recommendations to support leveraged finance transactions
Partner with broader deal team to represent the transaction to Independent Risk Management and senior leadership for credit and distribution approvals
Maintain active knowledge of the leveraged finance market, comparative transactions, and structural trends to support proposed structuring and pricing of transaction
Support the negotiation of key financial structures, credit agreements, and legal documentation issues necessary to successfully originate and syndicate financing commitments
Engage in discussions with external constituents including financial sponsors and corporate clients
Demonstrate a strong understanding of Wells Fargo's credit risk policies, risk appetite and underwriting guidelines
Support, manage, and train junior bankers
Required qualifications:
5+ years of corporate underwriting experience, leveraged finance, or capital markets experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired qualifications:
Experience across leveraged finance, acquisition finance and/or sponsor-related finance activities
Extensive corporate underwriting experience with a strong understanding of accounting, financial statement analysis, complex capital structures, financial modeling, and acquisition processes
Thorough capital structure knowledge, legal, and documentation expertise
Ability to work in a matrixed, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment across broad deal teams
Ability to thoroughly and quickly analyze transactions and communicate findings in a concise manner to senior audiences
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate to internal and external constituents
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
High level of initiative and accountability
Ability to effectively lead deal teams, train and mentor juniors, and support a diverse, inclusive and collaborative environment
Job Expectations
Registration for Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
Registration for FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
Registration for FINRA Series 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
