The Senior Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment will own the design, development, and validation of rotating machinery for aerospace power generation systems. In this role, you will provide technical leadership for electric motors, generators, and associated rotating equipment used in aircraft electrical power systems-helping deliver safe, reliable, and efficient products for our customers. You will lead new mechanical designs, develop and improve design practices, and provide mentorship and guidance to other engineers, while collaborating across disciplines to bring advanced electrical power solutions to life.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of aircraft power generators and rotating equipment using sound engineering principles, while adhering to business standards, procedures, and product/program requirements
Provide strong mechanical engineering design and analysis leadership on complex rotating machinery
Apply structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis tools (such as ANSYS) and CAD tools (such as NX) in the development and validation of designs
Lead the mechanical design of rotating equipment (rotors, stators, shafts, bearings, seals, housings) for aircraft electric power systems
Own the development of 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering specifications in accordance with aerospace and GE Aerospace standards
Perform and/or review structural, fatigue, dynamic, and tolerance analyses to ensure robust performance, life, and design integrity
Ensure proper mechanical integration of rotating equipment within the electric power system and the overall aircraft installation
Support and interpret component- and system-level testing, including test planning, data review, anomaly resolution, and test reporting
Lead root cause investigation and corrective action implementation for development and production issues (for example, vibration, wear, premature failures)
Collaborate with systems, electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to deliver integrated, producible solutions
Contribute to continuous improvement of design methods, standard work, and best practices, and mentor early-career engineers in rotating equipment design
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 8 years of design, analysis, and/or product development experience

Ability and willingness to sit on-site at the facility in Dayton, OH
Desired Characteristics
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering (for example, MSME) or equivalent depth of technical experience in rotating equipment
Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., NX, Creo) and mechanical drawings, including application of GD&T
Experience performing structural and fatigue analysis of rotating components in demanding environments
Approximately 10+ years of experience working in a safety-critical, regulated industry (aerospace or similar)
Strong communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions and influence design decisions
Experience with aircraft electric power systems or other aerospace mechanical systems and applications
Knowledge of rotor dynamics, vibration, bearings, seals, and balancing of rotating machinery
Hands-on experience with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) for mechanical analysis and validation
Familiarity with aerospace environmental and qualification standards (e.g., DO-160 or equivalent military/civil standards)
Demonstrated mentoring and technical leadership experience, with a focus on continuous improvement of tools, methods, and team capability
