Job Duties:

This position provides civil engineering support in the Consultant Design Support. The role focuses on helping consultants and utility companies complete their final design, hydraulic work, and utility coordination for MnDOT projects. It will assist with the development of detailed highway and transportation construction plans in accordance with MnDOT standards, policies, and design requirements. In this role you will support consultants and utility partners so they can successfully deliver their work on MnDOT construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years' para-engineering experience (Transportation Specialist or equivalent) which demonstrates:

Knowledge of Geometric Design Standards, Specifications and Public Right of Way Access Guidelines (PROWAG).

Knowledge of requirements for plan content and organization along with Plan Quality measures

Experience with graphic workstations (CADD) for design software capabilities.

Technical writing experience sufficient to write, review and comment on technical specifications and project related documents.

Experience with and knowledge of geometrical design standards for layouts, plan sets and complex design details.

Preferred Qualifications

Design of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPPP) Certification.

Experience and knowledge of hydraulics (storm sewer & culvert) design

Experience evaluating designs, identifying unsafe design features, and recommending revisions.

Experience with preparing cost estimates for all items required to construct a project and drafting special provisions.

Previous MnDOT design experience.
