Summary This position is assigned to Engineering Service, Maintenance and Operations Section, Utilities Group, Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning Shop of Facility Management Service at the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System. The incumbent of this position performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of electronic controls systems and indicating and recording systems used on industrial HVAC machinery, BAS and EMCS systems. Responsibilities Duties include but not limited to: Interpreting engineering drawings that combine electrical and electronic schematics, logic diagrams and mechanical drawings in order to trace signal flow throughout the system. Installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, overhauling, modifying, testing, and repairing complex multifunctional electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic controls associated with HVAC. Troubleshooting malfunctions of complex systems. Performing network related work to ensure all aspects of the Building Automated Systems are communicating back to the graphics display. Interpreting installation and repair instructions that frequently describe only general applications for the various components rather that their interface with the other components of the specific system. Installing and maintaining data sensing and switching devices with interrelated functions to control flow and temperature of the air, working fluids, steam, water, chemical water treatment, refrigerated air dryers, laminar air flow units, and electronic air cleaners. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Light Lifting, usually not exceeding 55 lbs. work requires kneeling, crouching, stooping, bending,climbing ladders, reaching in inaccessible areas, and standing for extended periods. Some eye hazard is present in working around control devices. Normal dexterity, eyesight and hearing required. Possible hazards from electrical shock, burns, moving machinery and obstacles in inaccessible areas. Danger from refrigerant gases and toxic fumes and eye hazard during brazing and gasses control air. Exposed to extreme weather, hot, cold and wind, outside and inside work.
