Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving technology environment.
Deep understanding of the AI/ML landscape, including foundational models, MLOps , and industry-specific AI applications.
Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level while also being deeply involved in product details.
Exceptional communication and people skills, with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders.
Strong technical acumen, capable of engaging in deep technical discussions with engineers and researchers.
About the job
As a Principal AI Product Designer, you will own the design strategy and vision across both Vertex AI, our industry-leading AI development platform, and Gemini Enterprise, our flagship conversational AI assistant. Your charter is to create a seamless and powerful ecosystem for enterprise AI, shaping "first of their kind" experiences for two distinct but connected audiences: the developers building on Vertex AI, and the business users leveraging Gemini Enterprise.
You'll operate as a key strategic partner to leadership across both product areas, collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, UX researchers, data scientists, and our go-to-market teams. You will drive the ideation and design of solutions that empower developers to innovate while delivering tangible business value to our end customers.
Furthermore, you'll actively drive alignment with design and product leadership across the broader Google Cloud organization. You will be instrumental in creating a unified strategy that ensures our AI platform and its flagship applications are well-crafted, easy to use and have a high bar similar to a consumer app. As a design leader, you will also be expected to mentor other designers and elevate the level of design craft and execution across the entire organization.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $267,000-$376,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
Define and articulate the long-term UX vision and strategy for Gemini Enterprise and Vertex AI. Ensure that the user experience is coherent, consistent, and of the highest quality across all touchpoints.
Set the bar for quality. Be an advocate for design quality, ensuring that we are shipping a product that is not only functional but also beautiful and easy to use.
Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, UX researchers, data scientists, and marketers, to define and execute AI models and interaction strategies.
Develop a deep expertise in user needs across various geographies, platforms, and audience segments, leveraging this understanding to inform all design decisions.
Translate complex user insights into actionable design solutions that deliver measurable value to our customers, specifically embracing AI as a tool in your design process.
