Role Overview
Matterport is the industry leader in 3D capture and spatial data, with a mission to digitize and index the built world and advance how people interact with the places they inhabit and explore. Our all-in-one 3D data platform enables anyone to turn a physical space into an immersive digital twin and collaborate in 3D.
The hardware we build is critical to our continued success, and we are seeking a Senior NPI Manufacturing Engineer to help deliver world-class products at scale.
This position requires strong electro-mechanical manufacturing expertise, hands-on New Product Introduction experience, and the ability to manage overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop robust manufacturing and test systems from proto@type through mass production.
This role is located in our Sunnyvale, CA office and has a schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.
What You Will Do
Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Contract Manufacturers to ensure successful production builds and new product launches
Document manufacturing process flows, task details, cycle times, and quality requirements
Develop, refine, and optimize test and assembly processes across proto@type and production phases
Own Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) documentation
Manage product BOMs and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) throughout the full product lifecycle
Prepare and present documentation related to performance, trade-offs, and manufacturing strategy
Troubleshoot defective hardware, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions
Communicate build plans and execution details with manufacturing partners, vendors, and suppliers
Interface across all organizational levels, both internally and externally
Cross-functional experience spanning product engineering, procurement, and manufacturing
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university
A track record of commitment to prior employers.
5 or more years of experience taking hardware products from design through manufacturing
Strong electro-mechanical manufacturing background
Proven experience leading New Product Introductions and supporting steady-state manufacturing
Hands-on experience managing overseas contract manufacturers
Proficiency with 2D & 3D CAD tools
Familiarity with quality planning methodologies and AQL standards
Comfortable working in Jira, Arena, and Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
Six Sigma Black Belt strongly preferred
Experience with 3D sensing technologies (LiDAR, iToF, or similar) strongly preferred
Self-starting mindset with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
Ability to travel internationally up to 10 percent

This position offers?a base salary range from $155,000 to $195,000 a year, determined by relevant skills and experience, and a generous benefits plan.
