The Manager, Operations, Data Center will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the critical infrastructure equipment supporting the Data Centers, direct or indirect supervision of 1-2 assistant managers or leads and/or direct and indirect supervision of 10-20 operations technicians.
The Manger Operations have the primary responsibility to ensure that the facility's power, cooling, and various other subsystems are operating at peak performance, are maintained according to IMDC and Manufacturer's schedules and recommendations, meet Customer SLA's in terms of redundancy and uptime, and that these activities are managed in accordance with all regulatory and compliance frameworks. This position is in a 7x24 environment with on call and call in requirements and responding outside of normal business hours will be required.
Responsibilities:
Manage multiple data center facilities, critical equipment and operations teams.
Development of method of procedures (MPO), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP), to support a 100% uptime mission critical environment.
Manage the operations, maintenance and repair of equipment such as CRAHs, AHUs, Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, UPS's, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, and Switchgear.
Supervise and schedule external vendors, electrical, mechanical, construction and low voltage contractors, to ensure that maintenance is completed and projects are done safely and with zero downtime, and that all IMDC operational procedures are followed.
Build and develop a diverse skilled team of facilities technicians, to support multiple mission critical environments.
Review staff's performance, identify training needs, develop training plans, and plan training sessions to improve quality of service and staff development.
Ensure Data Center facility complies with public utility, environmental, Federal, State, City and County, and other agencies as required. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and fire/life/safety requirements.
Develop the annual budget, ensure budget adherence, including oversight of Opex and Capex procurement, and monthly spend forecasting.
Respond as an escalation point to the afterhour's on-call rotation. This will include managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s) to completion.
Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies:
US Citizenship Required.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical (Military/Trade School) training and/or six (6) plus years' relevant experience preferred.
Six (6) to ten (10) years' experience in a critical operations environment. Data center experience preferred, electrical maintenance experience required.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls and building systems.
Understanding and ability to read complex mechanical and electrical drawings.
In depth mechanical knowledge, for operating, servicing and replacing parts on air handlers, pumps and pipes, and troubleshooting the critical infrastructure.
Ability to analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader @context to ensure we provide the best service to our customers possible.
Have knowledge of the theory of operation of: Generators, double conversion UPS, transformers, circuit breaker panels, switchgear, centrifugal pumps, variable frequency drives, remotely actuated valves, cooling towers, chillers (including the refrigeration cycle), and heat exchangers.
Familiarity with the procedures for performing hot work on energized electrical panels including OSHA safeguards and protective equipment.
Knowledge of the theory of data center fire detection and suppression.
Shows good judgment and instincts in decision-making. Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Able to demonstrate the ability to take ownership of technical issues brought to them by the customer. Demonstrate a willingness to actively engage other support teams to drive it to resolution.
Up to 10% travel may be required.
