The Head of Digital Asset Services for Global Payments & Liquidity (GPL) CIB & CB will design and lead Wells Fargo's institutional digital asset strategy across payments, liquidity, and collaborate closely with the markets team on FX, custody/servicing, and other digital asset initiatives. This role will build a scaled, regulated, and trusted digital asset services franchise for Wells Fargo's corporate, financial institution, and public-sector clients.
The executive will be responsible for defining the strategy, product roadmap, and commercialization model for digital asset services within GPL, ensuring tight alignment with Wells Fargo's enterprise digital asset, risk, technology, and regulatory agendas. This is a senior leadership role with direct responsibility for revenue growth, client adoption, and risk management across the portfolio of digital asset offerings.

Strategy & Vision
Define the 3-5-year vision and strategy for digital asset services within GPL, spanning:
Tokenized deposits and tokenized cash-like instruments
Tokenized working capital and collateral (e.g., on-chain collateral mobility, repo, intraday liquidity)
Programmable payments and liquidity (24/7 / always-on)
Benchmark Wells Fargo's roadmap against leading global transaction banks and securities services providers to ensure the franchise is competitive and differentiated in terms of capabilities, safety, and client experience.
Identify and prioritize institutional use cases that solve real client problems in payments, liquidity, trade, and capital markets, with clear business cases and P&L impact.

Product Ownership & Roadmap
Own the end-to-end product strategy for Digital Asset Services under GPL, including:
Product definition, value proposition, and feature roadmap
Pricing, revenue models, and economic design (e.g., fees, spreads, token economics where applicable)
Integration with existing GPL offerings (wires, ACH, RTP, FedNow, SWIFT, virtual accounts, liquidity management)
Partner with wholesale digital team to design and execute the customer experience on Vantage and via API
Lead design and delivery of flagship products such as:
On-chain intraday liquidity and tokenized collateral services
Programmable treasury / programmable payments solutions (e.g., event-driven payments, just-in-time funding)
Digital asset custody / safekeeping and servicing for tokenized securities and deposits (via internal build or partner solutions)

Commercialization, Client Engagement & Go-to-Market
Build a go-to-market strategy in partnership with:
GPL Commercialization team, inclusive of Product Sales Specialists and Solutions Consultants, Marketing and Communications for thought leadership, client education, and market positioning, onboarding, lifecycle management
GPL Sales for CB and CIB
Coverage bankers in Corporate & Investment Banking and Commercial Banking
Develop a pipeline of lighthouse clients and structured pilots (e.g., large corporates, FMIs, financial institutions, asset managers) to validate use cases and scale adoption.
Serve as senior sponsor and subject-matter expert in client meetings, industry forums, and with analyst/investor audiences as appropriate.
Define KPIs and OKRs for digital asset services (e.g., balances, volumes, fee income, client count, tokenized asset values, collateral mobilized).

Operating Model, Technology & Architecture
Design the target operating model for digital asset services within GPL, including:
Roles and responsibilities across GPL, Technology, Operations, Treasury, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Enterprise Digital.
Integration of digital asset platforms with existing payments, liquidity, and custody infrastructure.
Partner with Technology to:
Select and/or build core digital asset platforms (e.g., tokenization engine, ledger/chain connectivity, smart-contract frameworks, key management, wallets).
Ensure resiliency, scalability, cyber security, and interoperability with internal and external networks (e.g., FMIs, custodians, third-party platforms).
Partner with Operations to define standardized processes for reconciliations, exception handling, and client servicing for digital asset products.
Partner with technology and operations to identify the risks and then design and execute the control environment
Translate client needs and regulatory constraints into clear requirements for legal, risk and compliance partners.

Risk, Controls & Regulatory Engagement
Act as the first-line business owner for risks related to GPL's digital asset services, including operational, technology, market, liquidity, conduct, and reputational risk.
Establish strong governance aligned with Wells Fargo's risk framework and emerging best practices in digital asset risk management at peer banks.
Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Government Relations to:
Monitor evolving U.S. and global regulations for digital assets (e.g., stablecoins, tokenized securities, digital money, AML/KYC requirements).
Shape Wells Fargo's policy positions, advocacy, and industry engagement on institutional digital assets.
Ensure robust controls across client suitability, product approval, model risk (if applicable), and third-party/vendor risk management.

Ecosystem, Partnerships & Industry Leadership
Work with other product groups in CB (e.g. trade and Supply chain finance) and CIB (e.g. FX, DCM and ECM) to expand the use cases and scope of digital asset services to address a broader set of client needs.
Identify, evaluate, and structure partnerships with:
Define and lead GPL's network and partnership strategy, including representing Wells Fargo in key industry (e.g., SWIFT, The Clearing House) and private (e.g. Fnality, Partior) networks in support of our strategy
Market infrastructures (exchanges, clearinghouses, CSDs, FMIs)
Specialized digital asset custodians, tokenization platforms, and technology providers
Stablecoin issuers and other regulated digital money providers where appropriate
Develop a perspective on future interoperability across bank platforms, FMIs, and public/permissioned chains, and ensure GPL is positioned as a leading participant.

Build and lead a small, high-caliber team of digital asset product leaders, strategists, solution architects, and/or specialists, with a "small center, empowered edges" mindset aligned to GPL's broader culture.

Required Qualifications
Experience & Domain Expertise
12+ years of experience in transaction banking, payments, securities services, or adjacent wholesale financial services, with significant exposure to digital assets, tokenization, or blockchain initiatives.
Demonstrated track record of building and scaling new products or platforms in a large, regulated financial institution or leading fintech.
Strong understanding of:
Institutional digital asset use cases (tokenized deposits, tokenized securities, collateral mobility, programmable payments, digital money).
Market and technology landscape across banks, FMIs, custodians, and fintechs in the digital asset ecosystem.
Regulatory frameworks and supervisory expectations related to digital assets, stablecoins, custody, and securities/tokenized instruments (U.S. and key global markets).
Leadership & Execution
Proven ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels: from long-term vision and architecture design to hands-on delivery and issue resolution.
Experience leading cross-functional programs involving Technology, Operations, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and multiple business lines.
Strong commercial orientation with clear evidence of delivering revenue growth, client adoption, and P&L impact.
Skills & Capabilities
Deep product management expertise with ability to translate complex technology and regulatory constraints into simple, compelling client value propositions.
Excellent communication and influencing skills; comfortable engaging with C-suite clients, regulators, internal senior management, and boards.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
