Associate Industrial Designer
We're seeking an Associate Industrial Designer to help shape the next generation of products-from early concept through production readiness. You'll collaborate with end users, engineers, marketing, and manufacturing to translate insights into compelling, manufacturable designs that balance function, form, ergonomics, and cost . This is a hands-on role that spans research, sketching, 3D modeling, prototyping, rendering/animation, and design reviews . New grads with strong portfolios are welcome.
What You'll Do
Concept & Development
Conceive and develop innovative product concepts that improve how customers work.
Create sketches, storyboards, and refined CAD to communicate design intent.
Build and iterate 3D models and physical proto@types to evaluate form, fit, and usability.
Research & Validation
Support Voice of Customer (VoC) research; document user needs, workflows, and opportunities.
Participate in user testing; incorporate feedback to improve usability, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
Research materials, manufacturing processes, and market trends.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
Recommend and document colors, materials, finishes (CMF) and textures aligned to brand and use case.
Present concepts and progress in design reviews to gain alignment and buy-in.
Execution & Documentation
Produce detailed CAD and visual assets (renderings/animations) for reviews and marketing as needed.
Prepare design specifications, drawings, and documentation that support fabrication and assembly.
Maintain organized records of iterations, specs, and timelines; ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.
Proficiency in CAD Rhino preferred; others acceptable.
Adobe Creative Suite Illustrator, Photoshop.
Strong portfolio showing process (research ? concepts ? proto@types), sketching, 3D surfacing, and final outcomes.
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team.
Preferred Qualifications
1-3 years of relevant experience (internships/co-ops count). Strong new grads considered.
Experience with rapid prototyping tools and techniques (3D printing, shop tools).
Knowledge of ergonomics/human factors and design for manufacturing/assembly (DFMA) a plus.
Rendering/animation experience (KeyShot preferred)
Comfort in Windows environments; Microsoft 365/Office , Adobe CC .
Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and deliver on deadlines.
Core Skills
Sensitivity to form, proportion, and detail with excellent conceptual sketching.
Excellent 3D surfacing/modeling (Rhino preferred).
Clear, thoughtful visual and verbal storytelling in presentations.
Team-minded, open to feedback, and capable of giving constructive critique .
