Position Description
The Associate Director Supply Chain for Indianapolis Parenteral Manufacturing (IPM) is responsible for leading the Planning and Customer Service organizations to ensure a reliable supply of medicines. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure reliable production planning, demand alignment, customer order management, end-to-end material flow and excellence in supply chain execution. The Associate Director will recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team and act as the main liaison among Operations, Quality, Tech Services, Engineering, Tech @ Lilly, Global Supply Chain and the wider Supply Chain Network.
Key Objectives / Deliverables
Ensure a safe working environment for Supply Chain employees:
Identifying required safety training and monitoring training compliance.
Establishing and monitoring safety-related behavioral expectations.
Engaging in consistent and proactive safety interactions to develop a robust safety culture.
Ensure Quality compliance:
Identifying required training and ensuring training compliance
Ensuring planning and customer service activities comply with GMP, GQS and site quality requirements
Supporting regulatory inspections
Provide a challenging and rewarding environment for Supply Chain employees:
Hiring, training, and developing a high-performing team
Establishing clear expectations and providing timely feedback and feedforward
Ensuring clear accountability and ownership
Building strong analytical and technical capability within the team to support data-driven decision making and systems proficiency (i.e. SAP).
Ensure Supply Chain excellence
Leading Site S&OP process, ensuring alignment with Global Supply Chain, Operations, and senior leadership to support reliable supply of medicines
Ensuring accurate short-, mid-, and long-range planning aligned to demand and capacity
Leading customer service processes ensuring clear order visibility, service level management, and communication to internal and external partners
Challenge the Supply Chain organization to operate in an environment of continuous improvement
Driving process standardization and improvement
Maintaining documentation of departmental processes and establishing performance metrics
Ensuring adherence to OSSCE metrics and accountability for cycle time and supply chain performance
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
Professional experience (preferably 3+ years) in supply chain management, production planning, customer service, or manufacturing operations.
Demonstrated leadership experience (preferably 2 years) including coaching, performance management, and organizational development.
Additional Skills/Preferences
Master's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
Professional certifications such as ASCM/APICS CPIM or CSCP.
Experience in sterile/parenteral manufacturing, biotech, or controlled manufacturing environments.
Proven track record of leading in GMP-regulated or highly complex manufacturing settings.
Strong capability to guide teams through change, establish clear priorities, and drive high performance.
Experienced in managing cross-functional alignment to achieve organizational goals.
Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to apply structured problem-solving, data-driven decision making, and root cause analysis.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational execution.
Knowledge of SAP, especially planning modules, MRP logic, and master data.
Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in daily operations.
Familiarity with digital planning tools, advanced analytics, or scenario-based planning platforms.
Experience interacting with global supply chain organizations and external manufacturing networks.
Comfortable operating in ambiguous, evolving, high-growth environments.
Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement, standardization, and process simplification.
Proven ability to build high-trust, high-engagement teams with clear ownership and accountability.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$127,500 - $187,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
