JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Credit & Collections provides strategic and operational leadership for Choice Hotels' Credit and Collections functions. This role is responsible for managing enterprise-wide credit risk, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring consistent adherence to credit policies across the organization. The Senior Manager partners closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive strong financial performance while supporting positive franchise relationships and sustainable business growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES Collections Strategy & Financial Performance
Analyze accounts receivable data to identify collection opportunities, leveraging advanced Excel and analytical tools to drive data-informed decisions.
Develop and oversee collection strategies to reduce aged receivables and improve Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
Establish performance metrics and reporting to monitor portfolio health, identify risks, and track progress against targets.
Oversee account defaults, terminations, and the write-off process for bad debt expense.
Provide senior-level oversight and guidance on franchisee outreach strategies; support resolution of complex delinquency root causes while balancing risk management and franchise relationships.
Strategic Credit Leadership
Lead the Credit function, including credit evaluation, approval, monitoring, and ongoing risk management for franchise and corporate accounts.
Own and continuously enhance credit policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with business objectives, risk tolerance, and industry best practices.
Ensure consistent application and enforcement of credit policy across all brands and portfolios through governance, controls, and ongoing team accountability; review and approve complex or high-risk credit decisions and exceptions.
Proactively identify credit risk trends and recommend mitigation strategies to Finance leadership.
People Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, coach, and develop high-performing Credit and Collections teams through clear expectations, ongoing feedback, and performance management.
Manage hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning to build a scalable and engaged team.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with Legal, Franchise Operations, Billing, and Finance to resolve complex credit and collection matters.
Serve as the escalation point for sensitive, high-impact, or enterprise-risk accounts, including large or multi-property licensees.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to balance risk management with business and franchise needs.
Process Improvement & Innovation
Drive continuous improvement and automation across credit and collections workflows, including the evaluation and implementation of AI-enabled solutions.
Improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability of processes while maintaining strong internal controls.
Reporting & Executive Support
Prepare and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, including executive-level summaries and insights.
Escalate high-risk accounts and emerging trends to Finance leadership with clear, actionable recommendations.
Support ad hoc analyses and special projects as business needs evolve.
QUALIFICATIONS Employment Experience
8+ years of progressive experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or financial operations.
5+ years of people leadership experience managing and developing teams.
Technical Skills
Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Power Pivot, and Macros.
Demonstrated experience developing and enforcing credit policies and managing credit risk.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

Demonstrated success in reducing aged receivables and improving collection outcomes.

Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience in franchising, hospitality, or multi-unit environments preferred.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $93,000 to $110,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP).
The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
