As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure , you'll gain hands-on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow - all within a collaborative, impact-driven environment .

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Mechanical Design Engineer Summer Internship beginning May 18, 2026. This program is based in Wendell, NC.

You'll make an impact by:

Supporting mechanical design and 3D modeling projects, including drawing updates and design revisions.

Assisting with troubleshooting production support issues and implementing design improvements.

Supporting requests for special tools and fixtures to improve production and assembly processes.

Creating and updating engineering drawings and documentation for new and existing products.

Collaborating with engineering and production teams to support proto@type builds and hands-on development activities.

You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Candidates must not graduate prior to September 2026.

Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during Summer 2026.

Prior experience with the Siemens Smart Infrastructure Electrification & Automation division.

Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide housing or relocation support.

Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with 3D modeling or drafting tools (SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD).

Hands-on mechanical experience through coursework, labs, or projects.

Exposure to production or manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with engineering systems (SAP, Teamcenter, or similar).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.

Willingness to learn tools, systems, and engineering processes.
