Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Central Islip, New York. This contract-to-permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting specialist to contribute to the financial operations of our organization. The role involves managing various accounting functions and providing support to the Controller as needed.

Responsibilities:

Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Provide backup support to the Controller and assist with all aspects of the accounting department.

Scan remittance documents, enter daily deposits, and maintain accurate records.

Prepare and generate billing invoices, ensuring proper transmission and documentation.

Input accounts receivable data into systems and organize related paperwork.

Audit freight bills against manifests to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Assist with accounts payable processes and reconcile shipping logs as necessary.

Generate financial reports and conduct analytical tasks assigned by the Controller.

Maintain accuracy in all accounting tasks and handle additional duties as required.

Requirements - Strong oral communication skills in English.

Proficiency in computer applications, including advanced Excel capabilities.

Ability to follow instructions with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-up.

Minimum of a 2-year accounting degree and at least 4 years of experience, or 6+ years as a full charge bookkeeper.

Familiarity with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and audit processes.

Willingness to work in-person, with occasional overtime as needed.

Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting and computer-based tasks.
