GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Develop and design transmission facilities per AECC standards and guidelines that are safe, on schedule, cost effective, constructable, operable, and maintainable for AECC and its members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and design transmission stations that adhere to all applicable codes, industry standards and regulatory requirements, and AECC standards and guidelines.
Utilize Autodesk CAD software, PLS-CADD, and other industry standard software, with the assistance of the Designers, to create drawings as needed.
Provide technical support during construction and commissioning of projects. Consults with and supports Power Delivery Operations personnel on construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operations of equipment.
Reviews as-built drawings and participates in the department record update process.
Performs procurement support tasks such as developing site-specific equipment specifications, reviewing vendor quotations and making recommendations for vendor selection, and approving manufacturer drawings as needed.
Supports project budgeting and cost estimating as requested.
Supports developing or updating design standards and equipment specifications as requested.
Provide training to junior engineers/customers as needed.
Represents the Transmission Engineering department in a professional and ethical manner to all internal teams, Distribution Cooperatives, Consultants, Suppliers, and all other External Entities. Delivers superior customer service to internal and external customers.
Develops and maintains professional and technical knowledge of related current scientific developments and government regulations.
Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.

Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (P.E.'s ONLY)
Provide design concept oversight-If Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Review/Approve drawings, designs, and equipment specifications-If Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides above and below ground electrical engineering designs for new or the upgrade of existing transmission and distribution facilities.
Develop and provide specifications of electrical equipment such as HV switches, breakers, transformers, capacitor banks, and power fuses, for the construction of transmission and distribution facilities.
Ensures designs maintain electrical clearances, proper lightning protection and grounding requirements to provide safe operation of substations and transmission lines under both normal and fault conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Engineer I- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university plus 0-2 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a strong emphasis on engineering design within the electric utility industry.
Engineer II- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university plus 2-4 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a strong emphasis on engineering design within the electric utility industry.
Engineer III- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university plus 4-8 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a strong emphasis on engineering design within the electric utility industry.
Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
The ability to work with others, meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and stress.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Engineer Intern (EI) License in the state of Arkansas no later than 12 months after hire date.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Professional Engineering (PE) License in the state of Arkansas.

In pursuant of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to AECC/AECI standards and processes.
