This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which includes the ability to work from home, while also requiring to be in person as needed at our Lakeside and/or Clayton Corporate HQ campus locations in St. Louis, Missouri.
Responsibilities
You will be part of a team responsible for the support of applications used to rent cars for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo, and National Car Rental. You will work closely with many different application support teams across the larger rental departments.
As an Engineer 2, Software , you will support the development of new clients and enable our business to grow through the implementation of new capabilities. As a member of this area, you will work with technical leadership to develop and modify many different elements of technology. You will collaborate with other engineers and architects to provide recommendations for implementing new solutions and business capabilities, ensuring security standards are met. You will be providing instruction and guidance to less senior team members on new tasks and assignments, ensuring team deadlines are met. You will also be required to monitor key performance metrics to ensure compliance with established standards, processes, and procedures. You must be able to work in a fast-paced, production environment with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
As an Engineer 2, Software , we will be looking to you as a subject matter expert in multiple technology areas who will represent your team in a positive manner both within and outside of your department. Pricing supports and maintains the data and applications that determines what price we offer to our customers for all brands and locations. Pricing is also a key contributor to multiple on-going projects like Greenlight. This is an exciting department to be a part of with a lot of interaction with the Product team and various areas across IT and the business.
This is the perfect opportunity for a self-starter who is detail-oriented, motivated to solve problems and implement technical solutions. Strong interpersonal skills, as well as communication skills (both written and oral) will be important.
This team works in a fun, collaborative virtual environment and is responsible for high-priority efforts.
Key Characteristics:
Resolve problems that arise with production applications in a timely manner to ensure the efficient and proper functioning of application components
Implement software engineering solutions to meet requirements and architectural direction.
Code and successfully perform unit and integration testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution, as well as compliance with the business and technical requirements
Participate in acceptance testing to ensure client/user needs are met
Migrate applications to quality assurance and/or the production environment, or perform quality assurance as necessary
Work with Managers and team members to meet development standards
Participate in design conversations, asking questions and providing input
Support of on-call rotations and production problem trouble shooting

Qualifications
Required:
Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
Must reside in St. Louis, Missouri, or immediate surrounding area
Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
Experience working with enterprise-wide systems
3+ years of Java related development experience
2+ years of experience with frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Struts
2+ years of experience working with SQL (Ex: Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, Dynamo DB, or Mongo DB)
Experience with source control management (Bitbucket/GIT experience preferred)
Experience with middleware technologies like WebLogic and Tomcat
Experience and/or knowledge of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and end-to-end testing
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
Experience with EM applications ECARS or Odyssey or other Res/Rental applications is preferred
Experience with agile development methodologies and tools such as Scrum or Kanban
Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and/or similar tool
Experience with Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines
Experience with Web Services SOAP and/or Rest
Experience with middleware technologies like WebLogic and Tomcat
Experience with C/Pro-C a plus
Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and/or EasyMock
