Oversees wholesale market operations including day-ahead market operations, congestion revenue rights auctions, and demand integration. Directs the activities of the Wholesale Markets professional team. Ensures timely and accurate operations of the day-ahead market, congestion revenue rights market, and emergency response service procurement. Develops strategies to ensure successful business continuity of market operations. Develops strategies to identify and prioritize initiatives to enhance market operations. Leads business development of initiatives that enhance the day-ahead market, congestion revenue rights market, and demand integration processes. Ensures effective collaboration in market analysis and design development, seeking consensus from internal business partners, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. Leads team in meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Manages and delegates tasks to ensure support of operating personnel, market participants and the Independent Market Monitor (IMM) and the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT).

Leads and ensures collaborative stakeholder discussions that work to achieve consensus on complex and controversial issues
Guides and participates in the career development of all individuals within reporting structure including responding in a timely manner to personnel issues
Supervises and manages vendors and staff in conjunction with the development of software tools and enhancements including detailing work objectives, software design, testing, training and implementation plans
Actively participates in stakeholder and PUCT processes as an expert resource on Wholesale Markets
Serves as an expert witness for Wholesale Market Operations issues for hearings with the Board of Directors as well as legal, regulatory, and legislative bodies
Facilitates systems development, product implementation, certification and testing criteria and general workflow procedures with other departments and clients
Develops and maintains an expert level of understanding of commercial activities related to the competitive energy markets in North America and abroad
Develops a plan for Wholesale Markets that complies with internal and external audits, including but not limited to SAS-70 Audit and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Participates in overseeing and managing capital projects and market operations enhancements
Pro-actively collaborates with other internal departments as necessary in intra-departmental issues by promoting communication and information sharing between other departments
Maintains working knowledge of ERCOT Grid Operations and their impact on commercial operations
Maintains a current & expert knowledge of protocols, operating guides, business rules, as well as NERC & FERC Standards
Supports projects, as necessary, to implement or modify Wholesale Market Operation Systems including future enhancements and change requests
Prepares O&M budgets and manages within that budget
Reviews and approves staff timesheets and leave requests
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Requires minimum 10 years job-related work experience and 5 years in a management or leadership role in excess of degree requirements. Minimum years of job-related experience can include time in leadership roles.
Experience in wholesale market design, market operations, and deregulated electricity markets required
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in CRR Markets, Demand Response Administration, or Day Ahead Market Operations
Direct experience in ERCOT market or other RTO market
Experience working in a dynamic teaming environment
Strong communication and presentation skills across a broad range of stakeholders
Experience supporting an experienced team
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline (Required)
or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
Master's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline (Preferred)
WORK LOCATION - Taylor, TX:
Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at a minimum of 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence
Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

Expected Salary Range:
$198,937 - $338,176
