Job Summary
This role is for the Principal Electrical Engineer on the International Support Team (IST) of the SM-3 Block IIA missile program. SM3-IIA is an international cooperative development between the US and Japan, led respectively by Raytheon and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). MHI supplies key hardware on the missile including the Nose Cone, Third Stage Rocket Motor (TSRM) Assembly, Second Stage Rocket Motor (SSRM), Steering Control Section (SCS), and Control Surface Assembly (CSA) sections. As part of these systems, MHI provides numerous electro-mechanical components including servo motors, servo amplifiers, batteries, actuators, communication devices.
What You Will Do
The candidate for this Principal Electrical Engineer position will be a member of the IST and provide technical oversight and production assistance over all electrical and software topics related to MHI provided hardware. Responsibilities include evaluating MHI proposals for electrical and or software engineering changes, overseeing electrical component obsolescence issues including associated electrical and software requalification efforts, and providing technical guidance and leadership on review boards. The successful candidate will also bring MHI issues to the Process Materials and Procedures Control Board (PMPCB) and other approval boards. Responsibilities in this position include professional and respectful communication with the MDA customer and with the MHI engineering and business teams.
The successful candidate is expected to travel to Japan for face-to-face meetings with MHI and their suppliers when necessary. A valid passport and the availability to travel are important enablers for this work. Travel will consume approximately 10% of the work year. Roughly quarterly domestic trips to facilitate close coordination with Engineering and Program leadership are expected.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 8 years of demonstrated electrical and/or software engineering experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
Experience with circuit board design, software development, hardware and software qualification, and engineering change control processes.
Experience writing and evaluating technical proposals.
Experience working with ITAR requirements in an international environment.
Qualifications We Prefer
Demonstrated multi-disciplinary engineering experience is preferred.
Advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Prefer to have substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
