The Johnson & Johnson MedTech Industrial Design, Human Factors & User Experience (IDHF|UX) organization is seeking a multi-faceted, exceptionally talented, Industrial Design Co-op who is passionate about improving the quality of people's lives through remarkable user experiences.
The IDHF organization is responsible for user-centered aspects of new product development for J&J MedTech: Our team leads @contextual research to discover unmet user needs, designs information to facilitate understanding and collaboration, and creates concepts to address those needs. We test concepts iteratively with stakeholders through a robust formative and summative usability process to identify the best fit, then partner with the cross-functional New Product Development teams to ensure that the relevance and delight of the original idea is preserved through market launch. We are a collaborative team, dedicated to improving patient outcomes by delivering exceptional user experiences to healthcare professionals.
The position will be based in Cincinnati (Blue Ash) OH and will report directly to the IDHF|UX team, for the period of May to August 2026. It is expected that the co-op works on-site in person. Housing will not be provided by Johnson & Johnson.
Key Responsibilities:
This role is for students who are passionate about all phases of design process, including human factors research, product research, concept sketching, product renderings, 3D database development, animation, graphic design & illustration, usability testing, product marketing support, and concept presentations.
Depending on what projects are active during your rotation, you will partner with our designers to analyze user workflows, audit the competitive landscape, perform usability heuristic evaluations, prioritize user requirements, define information architecture, wireframe interfaces, visually design interfaces, build interactive proto@types for testing, and develop presentations for storytelling purposes.
Qualifications
Must be enrolled in a college/institution and pursuing either bachelor's or master's degree in Industrial Design, PhD candidates will not be considered.
Only students in their 2nd year of bachelor's or above will be considered
Students must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship in the future.
Availability for at least a 4-month co-op rotation
A minimum GPA of 3.0, with demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities
Experience using 2d and 3d design software (Solidworks, Autodesk Alias, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Keyshot or similiar)
Experience with prototyping (3D Printing, CNC)
Exceptional design, presentation, and communication skills

Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year.
