Overview
Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Marketing Manager, ideally based on the west coast, to lead the development and execution of strategic marketing and communications initiatives.
This role is responsible for strengthening brand presence, supporting business development and pursuit efforts, and clearly communicating the company's capabilities, values, and project successes to clients, partners, employees, and the broader industry. This position serves as the primary marketing lead and combines strategic planning with hands-on execution. The ideal candidate brings experience in construction, engineering, or professional services marketing, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable working directly with executive leadership, operations, and business development teams.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities and focal points of this role include the following:
Marketing Strategy & Leadership
Propose, develop, and implement strategic marketing and communications plans aligned with company growth objectives.
Maintain marketing plansand adjust tactics as needed.
Maintain marketing data and generate regular reports to support leadership decision-making. Brand Management & Messaging
Maintain and evolve the company's brand identity, messaging, and visual standards.
Ensure consistent brand representation across all marketing and communications materials.
Develop and refine value propositions and messaging aligned with target markets and clients. Business Development & Proposal Support
Support business development and proposal efforts through targeted marketing campaigns, pursuit messaging, and client-focused materials.
Lead or support the development of qualifications, proposals, presentations, and statements of interest (SOQs/RFPs) in coordination with proposal teams and technical staff.
Develop and maintain project descriptions, resumes, and experience databases. Communications & Content Development
Oversee internal and external communications, including all-employee meetings, company announcements, press releases, and executive messaging.
Develop content highlighting project wins, milestones, safety performance, innovation, and company culture.
Coordinate messaging that supports corporate initiatives, market positioning, and business objectives.
Lead presentation development for:
All-employee meetings and internal communications.
Executive leadership presentations.
Investor-facing presentations and corporate overviews.
Client-facing and business development presentations.
Industry conferences, panels, and speaking engagements.
Ensure presentations are clear, compelling, on-brand, and tailored to the intended audience.
Partner with executives, business development, and operations teams to translate complex information into effective visual and narrative presentations. Digital Marketing & Media
Manage the company website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with strategic priorities.
Oversee social media strategy, content planning, posting, and engagement.
Track and analyze digital performance metrics and recommend improvements. Public Relations & Industry Engagement
Coordinate media relations, trade publication content, and award submissions.
Support participation in industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
Strengthen the company's visibility and reputation within the heavy civil and infrastructure markets. Investor Relations Support
Support Investor Relations communications in coordination with executive leadership, finance, and legal teams.
Assist with preparation of investor-facing materials, including earnings presentations, fact sheets, corporate overviews, and website content.
Ensure consistency between marketing, corporate communications, and investor messaging.
Support investor-related announcements and content updates in compliance with public company requirements. Team & Vendor Management
Manage external vendors, consultants, designers, and photographers.
Provide direction to direct marketing reports, including workload management, mentoring, and performance feedback.
Assist in building and scaling the marketing team as the company grows.
Manage marketing budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure efficiency and accountability.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field +6 years of relevant marketing and/or communications experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
Proven experience developing and implementing strategic marketing plans.
Experience supporting business development, proposals, or pursuit-based marketing.
Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred
Experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, transportation, or engineering/construction environments.
Experience leading or managing marketing staff or direct reports.
Familiarity with public-sector procurement and alternative delivery pursuits (CMAR, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build).
Experience with CRM systems, digital asset management tools, or proposal management software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (or similar tools).
Experience managing websites, social media platforms, and digital analytics.
The salary range for this position is between $130,000 - $160,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
