Pay Range
$173,400.00-$238,400.00 Annual
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
Johns Manville (JM), a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking a dynamic, results‑driven Plant Manager to lead our 300+employee, unionized fiberglass insulation manufacturing facility in Winder, GA. This is a high‑impact, highly visible leadership role for a plant that is critical to JM’s growth—in 2026 the Winder site will expand with a brand‑new production line, requiring exceptional operational leadership, transformational change management, and deep workforce engagement.

What Success Looks Like
Within this role, success isn’t defined by tasks—it’s defined by measurable outcomes . The Plant Manager will be expected to:
- Drive a culture of safety excellence by implementing proactive safety programs, leading root‑cause investigations, and ensuring continuous improvement initiatives that consistently reduce workplace incidents and enhance overall facility safety performance.
- Improve operational performance year over year , including productivity, throughput, quality, and cost‑to‑produce.
- Strengthen employee engagement across a 300+ member union workforce , fostering collaboration, trust, and strong labor‑management partnerships.
- Drive cultural alignment with JM values , creating an environment where safety, ownership, and continuous improvement are non‑negotiable.
- Embed a disciplined CI approach (Lean, Six Sigma, KT, etc.) that leads to sustainable performance improvements.
- Ensure regulatory excellence , including environmental permitting, agency relationships, and EHS compliance above company standards.
- Develop a strong leadership bench , building capability and accountability across salaried and hourly teams.
Your Impact
As the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for directing all functions of plant operations, including EHS, HR, Maintenance, SIOP, Quality, Engineering, Capital, and Finance. You will:
- Lead the strategic direction of the facility and ensure operational execution.
- Create and implement policies that support plant safety, output, and reliability.
- Manage multimillion‑dollar capital projects and capacity‑expansion initiatives.
- Build a high‑performing leadership team through coaching, development, and clear accountability.
- Represent JM with local partners, regulatory bodies, and the community.
- Champion continuous improvement, technology adoption, and operational excellence.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree, technical discipline preferred and 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership , including 3+ years as a Plant Manager .
- Experience leading a large-scale complex operation
- Experience managing in a union environment.
- Demonstrated success improving performance through Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong financial acumen with a track record of delivery cost, productivity, and quality improvements.
- Experience overseeing capital projects, environmental permitting, and safety programs.
- Proven ability to lead through change, build culture, and inspire diverse teams.
- Technical and mechanical aptitude; outstanding communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to interface at all levels internally and externally.
