The Western Region is seeking a Legal Assistant 1 for our fast-paced team, where you will handle critical administrative tasks to process and adjudicate human services appeals fairly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Legal Assistant 1, you will play a crucial role in the legal process and provide vital support to the Department of Human Services and the Department of Aging. Your duties will include processing and scheduling appeals and fair hearings, reviewing legal documents and correspondence, and ensuring that appeals are handled in a timely and compliant manner. You will also work closely with Administrative Law Judges and provide support to the bureau, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the legal system. With your assistance, justice can be served in a fair and timely manner.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of your probationary period and/or training period. Your work assignments will primarily take place in the office. However, telework may be available based upon individual eligibility and the operational needs of the bureau. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
