Job Description
Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for a unlimited, full-time Welding and Metal Fabrication Instructor position in our Welding and Metal Fabrication (WELD) Department (https://minneapolis.edu/academics/school-trade-technologies/welding-and-metal-fabrication) within the School of Trade Technologies (http://minneapolis.edu/academics/school-trade-technologies) starting 2026 Fall Semester.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide quality teaching in assigned field of study to a very diverse student population inboth lecture and laboratory settings;
Develop and revise instructional materials for both lecture and laboratory courses;
Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and College levels;
Establish, cultivate, and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships withinstructors in the Welding and Metal Fabrication Department, the Department's administrators, academic advisors, and support staff, and all College personnel;
Participate actively in the College community through WELD Department and School of Trade Technologies meetings and College-wide committee work;
Utilize campus technology to stay current in the welding and metal fabrication occupation and connect to faculty, staff, and students; and
Participate in ongoing professional development activities and professional association memberships.
Minneapolis College's Welding and Metal Fabrication program provides students with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills they need for entry-level employment as welders, solderers, and metal fabricators. Students can earn the following academic awards:
Welding and Metal Fabrication Associate of Applied Science Degree (60 credits)
Welding and Metal Fabrication Certificate (30 credits)
Salary Range
$43,067 - $71,893 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023 - 2025 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field of Welding Technology/Welder (https://www.minnstate.edu/system/asa/academicaffairs/cfc/fields/500129.html) :
Education Requirement: Diploma in welding.
Occupational Experience Requirement: Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in welding.
Recency Requirement: One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
Teaching experience in a community college or technical school setting.
Occupational experience in welding and metal fabrication.
Demonstrated computer skills with educational learning systems and Microsoft Office software.
Experience developing and using student-centered, active, and experiential learning strategies.
Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery.
Experience assessing student academic achievement.
Other Requirement
Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
