Description
Are you passionate about preventing workplace injuries with engineering solutions? Do you excel at applying ergonomics principles to solve complex design challenges? Amazon's Global Future Operations Ergonomics (GFOE) team is seeking a Senior Ergonomist to integrate ergonomics principles into Amazon's product development lifecycle across our global operations network.
In this role, you will conduct rigorous ergonomic assessments of facility designs, equipment specifications, and operational processes before they reach our operations. You'll apply advanced biomechanical modeling, computational ergonomics frameworks, and science-based assessment methodologies to quantify MSD risk factors and develop engineering controls. Your technical analyses will directly influence the design of Amazon's future buildings, automation systems, and material handling equipment at scale.
You will partner with automation engineers, industrial designers, construction teams, operations leaders, and safety professionals to translate ergonomic requirements into actionable design specifications. Your work will directly impact the health and safety of Amazon associates worldwide.
Key job responsibilities
Science-Based Risk Assessment & Biomechanical Analysis
Conduct rigorous ergonomic assessments using established methodologies to quantify MSD risk factors
Apply biomechanical modeling and computational analysis to evaluate force requirements, posture demands, and repetition patterns across design concepts
Engineering Controls & Design Integration
Develop engineering controls and design specifications that address MSD risk factors through application of the hierarchy of safety controls
Translate ergonomic assessment findings into actionable design requirements for engineering teams
Conduct technical design reviews across concept, detailed design, and implementation phases
Digital Human Modeling & Computational Ergonomics
Apply digital human modeling software to simulate human-system interactions
Utilize CAD applications to evaluate facility layouts, workstation designs, and equipment configurations for ergonomics
Technical Documentation & Knowledge Development
Create comprehensive technical documentation including ergonomic assessment reports, design specifications, and white papers
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Communication
Partner with automation engineers, industrial designers, and construction teams to integrate ergonomic principles into facility designs and equipment specification
Communicate complex biomechanical concepts and assessment findings to technical and non-technical audiences through data visualization and technical presentations
