Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Newport News, Virginia. In this role, you will contribute to the financial operations of a large manufacturing firm by handling key accounting responsibilities. This position requires an experienced and detail-oriented individual with exceptional attention to detail and a strong background in managing complex financial processes.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and post accurate journal entries to ensure proper tracking of financial transactions.

Reconcile fixed asset accounts and maintain detailed records to support financial reporting.

Manage intercompany account reconciliations to ensure consistency across multiple entities.

Assist in the preparation and review of balance sheets for various divisions within the organization.

Perform month-end closing activities, ensuring all financial data is complete and accurate.

Oversee general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.

Conduct bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies.

Maintain and update the fixed asset ledger, ensuring proper documentation and asset categorization. Requirements - Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in month-end close procedures and general ledger management.

Strong knowledge of preparing and posting journal entries.

Expertise in account reconciliation, including fixed asset and bank reconciliations.

Ability to manage intercompany accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Familiarity with fixed asset ledger maintenance and related processes.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
