Intern - Advanced Signal Processing and Embedded Engineer

About our group: Seagate Technology is seeking advanced signal processing and/or embedded systems engineers for its Hardware Engineering Servo group in the Minnesota Design Centers. This is a technical position with broad responsibility to work with mentors in the group to develop advanced embedded features to meet the high-density tracking and reliability requirements of hard disk drives that serve the cloud market. About the role - you will: Develop, test and integrate algorithms for servo pattern writing. Get general exposure to other aspects of disk drive servo operation like controls, vibration mitigation and seeking. Maintain and develop tools and processes for design and validation of algorithms, compliance to requirements metrics, and compatibility with other components. About you: This is a highly collaborative position requiring strong communication and technical leadership skills. Your experience includes: Emphasis on closed loop controls and signal processing. Coursework on graduate level signal processing coursework is desired. Advanced signal processing, position control of precision equipment, real-time embedded firmware design, programming in embedded C, Python, and Matlab Current student in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and returning to classes in Fall 2026. (Master's or PhD level candidates preferred.) Location: Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe - it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. With wide-open spaces, the campus has plenty of space for running, biking, shooting some hoops or playing volleyball over lunch. If working out is your thing, the on-site fully equipped fitness center hosts wellness programs, tournaments and group workouts. Hungry? Seagate offers an on-site cafe with freshly sourced foods and specialty coffees, or if you prefer, drive to one of many restaurants just minutes away. The estimated base wage range for this position is $24 - $43/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
