Our team in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to serve as the primary quality interface between Raytheon's organization and the external supply base. The SQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to the supplier as well as being a conduit for Quality information back to internal functions within RTX. The SQE's role includes execution of Supplier Assessments, First Article Inspection validation, problem resolution, meeting facilitation and continuous improvement activities. In addition, the SQE is a key player in the facilitation and management of Supplier risk mitigation, problem resolution, and development. The SQE represents RTX professionally and supports Raytheon Technologies Vision, Values, Strategy and Goals as our Quality representative in the supply base.
This position entails assignment as a SQE supporting a supplier in Huntsville, AL , and is largely remote. Visits to local supplier facilities in Huntsville are required and will require a home office be maintained. Candidates are expected to travel domestically up to 50% to include driving up to 300-mile radius with some flying as needed. Relocation assistance is not provided.
What You Will Do:
Interpreting purchase order quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/supplier understanding
Ensuring flow down of Product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers through PO requirements and Statement of Work content. Ensuring compliance with these quality requirements
Assessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives
Identifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans
Driving continuous product / process improvements using statistical / analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologies
Working with other Quality functions and Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills
Participating in supplier design, process change, qualification test, and procedure reviews.
Supporting supplier assessments, audits, and reviews
Visiting Suppliers on regular cadence up to 50% travel
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 5 years of prior relevant experience OR an advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience is in Manufacturing, Aerospace and/or Defense Quality Engineering.
Experience of Root Cause Corrective Action Investigations and/or Implementation.
Experience working within commercial and/or aerospace and defense regulations and standards (examples AS9100, ISO 9001, etc.)
Technical drawing interpretation and/or hardware inspection techniques

Qualifications We Prefer:
Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
MS Engineering / Technical or MBA
Experience with preventative tools such as APQP
Proven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers / customers
Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery
Experience in engineering, development, project planning, and working remotely
General Statistical Process Control knowledge, including implementation
General knowledge of aerospace / defense products and systems technologies
General knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
