Mainframe Software Engineer

CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe Software Engineer position for our client.

Location: Remote

Duration: 12+ months

Duties:

Support and enhance enterprise legacy core applications, including Deposits, Payments, and CIF systems.

Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications following SDLC and Incident Management processes.

Write reliable, maintainable, and high-performing code in approved programming languages.

Collaborate with business partners, project managers, analysts, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Analyze user requests to determine scope, effort estimates, and system impacts.

Review specifications, code, test plans, and documentation for accuracy.

Execute system and integration testing to validate application functionality.

Perform code reviews, troubleshoot defects, and support production issues.

Mentor and assist other engineers with technical challenges.

Skills:

Strong mainframe development skills including COBOL, CICS, JCL, MVS, and VSAM.

Experience with mainframe change management tools.

Knowledge of file transfer protocols (FTP, SFTP).

Experience working in Agile environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience:

7+ years of mainframe development experience in design, analysis, and coding.

7+ years working on large, enterprise-level systems, preferably within the Financial Services industry.

Experience with mainframe Deposit applications preferred.

Experience with COBOL CICS, CICS Web Services, CICS Transaction Gateway, and/or mainframe MuleSoft API integrations is a plus.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity.

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

7+ years of IT experience in an enterprise environment.

Must be able to speak English fluently.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $59.00 to $65.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
