Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in New Haven, Connecticut. In this contract-to-permanent role, you will play a vital part in managing financial operations for a non-profit organization. This position requires someone with strong attention to detail and expertise in federal grants and accounting processes.

Responsibilities:

Oversee month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Perform reconciliations for accounts and bank statements to maintain financial integrity.

Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and adjustments.

Ensure compliance with federal grant requirements and regulations.

Utilize Sage software to streamline accounting operations and reporting.

Collaborate with team members to improve financial workflows and efficiency.

Prepare detailed financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Support audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.

Assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies within financial records. Requirements - Proven experience with month-end close procedures and general ledger management.

Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.

Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes and financial accuracy.

Knowledge of Sage software and its applications in accounting.

Experience working with federal grants and ensuring compliance.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.

Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
