Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Description

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for training, learning, and performing all general office accounting tasks. This includes various areas such as cashier and payment processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, vehicle and inventory accounting, and other essential accounting duties.

Responsibilities

Reconcile all cash, checks, and credit payments collected from various departments.

Prepare bank deposits and handle monies from sales, checks for money due, drafts, and charge card payments.

File finalized cash receipt records, check stubs, and bank receipts.

Process daily credit card deposits and reconcile credit card schedules monthly.

Verify and disperse petty cash.

Review and secure manager authorization for all purchase orders.

Prepare checks and process payment of vendor invoices, including proper account coding.

Enter invoices from all departments and research old invoices.

Post vendor invoices to the general ledger and reconcile all vendor statements.

Prepare schedules for accounts payable and service contracts.

Contact past due accounts and update the system with payment status.

Email AR reports to the management team with updated payment status notes.

Prepare monthly accounts receivable statements and related reports.

Answer accounts receivable inquiries and ensure proper follow-up.

Update customer account information using computer systems.

Research and process chargebacks, returns, and bad checks.

Post New and Used Vehicle retail & wholesale sales to the general commission spreadsheet for biweekly payroll.

Stock purchases into VMS and the general ledger.

Manage sublet inventory and record used vehicle purchases.

Process daily floor plan payoffs, monthly floor plan payments, and floor plan reconciliation.

Prepare schedules for sublet inventory.

Post holdback and incentive payment statements.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in accounting, general ledger, reconciliation, month-end procedures, journal entry, accounts payable, and reporting.

Ability to learn and perform general office accounting tasks across multiple areas, including cashier and payment processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, and other duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in handling cash, checks, and credit payments.

Ability to manage petty cash and prepare deposits.

Skills in processing vendor invoices, securing approvals, and posting to general ledger.

Experience in managing past due accounts and preparing AR reports.

Proficiency in updating customer accounts and handling inquiries.

Skills in posting sales, maintaining commission spreadsheets, and managing inventory and floor plan reconciliations.

Work Environment

The position operates in an office setting where you will engage with various accounting software and tools. You will work standard office hours and interact with a team of professionals to ensure all accounting tasks are performed efficiently and accurately.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
