Summary
The Diesel Technician position is responsible for the inspection, service, repair and preventative maintenance of the various @types of ATS tractors by using ATS and industry standard methods and criteria to make sure the tractor is safe to be on the road.
Education and Experience Level 3
Two year AAS Degree in medium/heavy truck diesel program and/ or at least one year of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc.
Must be DOT certified or able to obtain certification within 90 days.
Must have brake certification or able to obtain within 90 days.
Must have OSHA tire training or able to obtain within a year.
Must have forklift certification or able to obtain within 90 days.
Must be able to operate all related shop equipment.
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
Effective communication skills (written, listening and verbal).
Good decision-making, problem-solving, attention to detail and customer service skills (internal/external).
Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read installation manuals and understand manufacturer training
Level 2 have in addition to above
At least five years of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc.
ASE Certifications T4 & T8 is required withing 1 year of hire date.
Must be DOT Certified
Must be able to MIG weld
Intermediate electrical diagnostic skills
Familiar with all diagnostic software programs
Level 1 must have in addition to above
Minimum of seven years of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc.
ASE Certifications Master T2-T8 is required within 1 year of hire date.
Advanced electrical diagnostic skills
Proficient with all diagnostic software programs
Experience with warranty submission
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform inspections on company tractors using ATS, DOT, and OSHA guidelines to ensure that the tractors are operating safely.
Complete DOT inspections on outgoing trucks to verify that all necessary repairs have been made.
Performs repairs following ATS procedures within standard job times to get the drivers back on the road as soon as possible.
Performs all necessary/scheduled preventative maintenance services e.g., oil and grease, air filters, cooling system nitrate, water filters, etc.
Diagnose and repair electronic control engines.
Ensure safety procedures are implemented and followed and wear all required PPE at all times.
Record all parts and repair work into computer system to track cost of repairs.
Must meet productivity standards.
Participate in online OEM training such as After Market Resource (ARC) from Freightliner and hands on training provided by OEM and Factory.
Must furnish basic tools and ATS will provide specialty tools to perform functions of the job.
Meet all ATS and department objectives and deadlines.
Follow all ATS and department policies and procedures.
Works within budget that is set for the department.
Charge out all parts used on trucks and trailers.

Compensation & Benefits:
The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $26.00 - $40.00 plus $4.00 per hour 2nd shift differential. This position may be eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus, subject to eligibility requirements. Hourly pay rate offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work. In addition to the hourly rate of pay, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which can vary depending on individual and/or company performance.

What you will do.
ATS technicians are trained to provide quality maintenance on our growing fleet of over-the-road trucks and trailers. You'll perform a variety of work including, inspecting, diagnosing, replacing and repairing brake systems ABS, electrical components, steering systems, multi-axle alignments, hydraulic systems, welding/fabrication of steel and aluminum and related equipment. You'll work independently while being part of a great team!
