What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Year Round - R&D Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Support fundamental mechanical engineering design efforts by performing engineering tasks and duties that require basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
You will learn fundamental skills in CREO, Solidworks, Windchill, and LabView to perform basic development of engineering designs and codes for operations supporting Pulsed Power and High Energy Laser experimental operations
Be present in the daily engineering activities of the group and learn engineering analysis and coding processes.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.
Qualifications We Desire:
Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering
Currently enrolled and attending an accredited 4-year undergraduate Science-Technology-Engineering-Math (STEM) program with the completion of the first-year curriculum by June 2026.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7/4.0
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
Highly motivated and team-oriented
Experience in Computer Aided Design tools (SolidWorks, CREO, AutoCAD, etc.)

About Our Team:
The Pulsed Power Sciences Center (1600) is accountable for advancing the understanding, development, and application of pulsed power for the missions of the nuclear weapons program. The Center also utilizes its major experimental, theoretical, and computational capabilities to meet the national security and fundamental science needs of diverse Sandia and external customers. Center 1600 is Sandia's primary organization for research in High Energy Density Physics (HEDP), Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF), Advanced Radiography, Pulsed Power Science and Technology, and Fusion Technologies.
The Pulsed Power Engineering and Design Organization (1690) supports the engineering needs for the Pulsed Power Sciences Center by providing advanced engineering, design, and documentation services supporting current and future pulsed power machine development and maintenance. Additionally, the department supports other Sandia groups and external partners with engineering services by performing analysis, testing, and design. We provide the technical expertise needed to deliver and support robust, cost-effective pulsed power systems services. We maintain the required mechanical engineering and design staff needed to design, deliver, and support state-of-the-art pulsed power systems.

Security Clearance:
