Job Summary and Qualifications
HCA Healthcare's Digital Patient Experience (DPx) organization is seeking a principal architect. This architect plays a strategic role in advancing HCA Healthcare's Consumer and Patient Engagement capabilities through marketing technology. This role focuses on evaluating and integrating third-party platforms that support initiatives to attract, engage, convert, and retain patients across digital touchpoints. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors, the architect ensures that marketing technologies are seamlessly incorporated into HCA Healthcare's digital ecosystem.
The DPx organization is dedicated to delivering a seamless, intuitive, and connected digital experience for patients across all HCA Healthcare care settings. By managing and optimizing a broad portfolio of technologies-including over 500 websites, patient-facing modules, engagement platforms, and marketing tools-DPx guides patients through every stage of their digital healthcare journey.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead technical evaluations of third-party software, including RFP reviews, vendor demos, and architectural assessments.
Define and document integration strategies to incorporate external solutions into the company's ecosystem while ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to define integration strategies and ensure seamless interoperability with existing systems.
Ensure all solutions adhere to enterprise standards, including infrastructure, data governance, and regulatory policies.
Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout implementation, supporting development teams and resolving integration challenges.
Facilitate cross-functional communication, translating business requirements into technical deliverables and vice versa.
Stay current on emerging technologies and vendor roadmaps, identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
What qualifications you will need:
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field - Required
EXPERIENCE
7 or more years of experience in Software Development - Required
3 or more years of experience in Solution/Software Architecture - Preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience could be considered
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Cloud Architecture Certifications (Azure/GCP/AWS) - Preferred
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Proven experience as a Solution Architect or similar role with a track record of delivering complex solutions - Required
Experienced in evaluating and onboarding third-party SaaS platforms, with a focus on interoperability, vendor collaboration, and compliance alignment - Required
Proficient in applying software design patterns and development methodologies - Required
Experienced with data platforms such as data lakes, relational, and NoSQL databases - Required
Familiar with cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP, and AWS, with an understanding of their core services and deployment models - Required
Proficient in secure design principles and security architecture, including identity management, data encryption, and threat modeling - Required
Proficient in visual collaboration and architecture design tools, such as FigJam, Lucidchart, and Microsoft Visio, for creating system diagrams and solution documentation - Required
Experienced in using LLMs (e.g., Claude Sonnet, Copilot) for AI-driven design & development - Preferred
Familiar with healthcare, privacy, and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA) - Preferred
