TITLE: Senior Specialist, Mission Data Analyst

OVERVIEW:
This position plays a vital role in developing and implementing data quality standards, conducting regular audits, supporting new grant data infrastructure, and providing training to ensure consistent, high-quality data collection practices. The Senior Specialist leads coordination between the Data Team and Program Teams to ensure timely, accurate, and actionable data submissions and reporting. This grant-funded position reports to the Senior Manager, Mission and Sustainability Data and works closely with local Goodwill organizations to maintain data excellence. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented data professional who combines strong analytical skills with excellent communication abilities, and who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
NOTE :? This position is funded by a grant awarded to GII. The position's establishment and continuance may be dependent upon on-going grant funding.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Coordinate and oversee data collection, validation, and reporting processes for grant-funded investments
Lead data setup and implementation for new grants, including technical onboarding and dashboard development
Ensure compliance with program-specific guidelines through systematic quality control and exception reporting
Facilitate collaboration between Data and Program Teams to resolve data issues and ensure submission completeness
Provide technical assistance and training to GII colleagues and local Goodwill team members
Analyze, interpret, and visualize mission grant data
Delegate to and review work of junior analysts
SPECIFIC DUTIES 1 :
Data Quality Management & Ongoing Submissions (40%)
Monitor monthly data submissions from members and ensure completeness
Communicate missing submissions to Program Teams and track follow-up
Conduct exception reporting meetings with Program Teams to resolve data discrepancies
Collaborate with Program Teams to clarify and correct questionable data
Finalize validated datasets and ensure ingestion into Microsoft Fabric
Update dashboards and analytics tools with refreshed data
Create quarterly reports and develop slide decks highlighting trends and insights for member calls
Conduct monthly audits and maintain data quality documentation
Track and report on data quality metrics
Delegate tasks to and review work of junior analysts
New Grant Data Setup & Implementation (30%)
Lead data infrastructure setup for new grants, including:
Creating data dictionaries in collaboration with Program Teams
Liaising with Digital Technology Solutions and Program Teams to define business requirements for data collection
Hosting orientation meetings to explain data requirements and impact to subgrantees
Support data implementation:
Assist members in mapping fields and setting up reporting pipelines
Conduct ingestion testing and troubleshoot upload issues
Develop dashboards and automated reports in Power BI using data housed in Microsoft Fabric
Training & Support (15%)
Design and deliver data collection training programs
Provide technical support to local Goodwill team members
Create training materials and documentation
Conduct one-on-one and group training sessions
Develop best practice guides for data entry
Provide ongoing mentoring and support
Address data quality issues through targeted training
Analysis and Reporting (15%)
Create standard and custom reports
Conduct trend analysis for grant impact
Generate compliance and performance reports
Document and track systematic issues
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Timely completion of new grant data setup milestones
Accuracy and completeness of monthly member data submissions
Resolution rate of data discrepancies through exception reporting
Quarterly report delivery timeliness and quality
Dashboard refresh frequency and accuracy
Member satisfaction with onboarding and data support
Training session completion and feedback scores
Number of automated reports successfully deployed
All grant client data ingested into Fabric
Stakeholder satisfaction with data insights and collaboration
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Work closely with GII colleagues
Local Goodwill Organizations: Frequent engagement with local Goodwill team members.
External: Limited engagement with stakeholders, funders, and vendors.
SKILLS NEEDED 2 :
Strategic Collaboration on Data
Experience designing and implementing data infrastructure for grants or programs
Ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions
Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement
Strategic thinking with a systems mindset
Data Quality & Compliance
Expertise in data validation, exception reporting, and audit processes
Familiarity with compliance protocols in grant-funded environments
Ability to develop and enforce data quality standards
Technical Skills
Advanced skills in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric
Experience with CRM systems (e.g., CaseWorthy , Salesforce)
Proficiency in data mapping, ingestion testing, and automation
Comfort with scripting or field mapping for data pipeline
Training and Communication
Strong facilitation and training design skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Experience leading orientation sessions and producing training materials
Analytical & Operational Excellence
Skilled in trend analysis, performance reporting, and dashboarding
Attention to detail and process improvement mindset
Ability to manage timelines and coordinate across teams
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, or related field or Equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification in data analytics or project management is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
At least five years of experience in data analysis or related field
Demonstrated experience in data validation and cleaning
Experience providing technical training or support
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data visualization tools
Previous experience with grant reporting is a plus
Track record of implementing quality control processes
Experience working with distributed teams
DECISION MAKING:
Exercise discretion and judgment in performance of duties, setting priorities, formatting/designing and organizing tasks.
SUPERVISION:
Regular with latitude given to select appropriate procedures. The work is reviewed primarily for the quality of outcome and secondarily for approaches, procedures and methodologies used to complete the work. Guidance and review may be required on some work problems and projects.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Sedentary, lifting 10 lbs. maximum. Walking or standing is required only occasionally; these may be accommodated. Requires long hours at a computer.
