Nut Tree Capital Management LP seeks an Analyst for its New York, NY location. Duties: Analyze business, financial, operating and alternative data, industry trends, market and economic conditions, and the condition of specific assets/properties using mathematical models to assist in making investment decisions. Interpret technical price, yield, return and risk data, business operations, and other situational factors to evaluate the quality of numerous securities and asset classes within a given industry and assess the relationship between risk and reward for an investment. Deploy financial analysis and mathematical models to estimate the value of businesses, determine appropriate prices for / values of securities, develop solutions to financial problems, and analyze the impact of capital transactions. Synthesize investment and economic analysis, mathematical and financial spreadsheet models, and commentary into written reports and presentations that include graphs and implementation details. Present orally with the resulting work output to other investment firm staff, including the Chief Investment Officer, to receive investment approval. Work cross-functionally with business teams, such as trading and investor relations, providing specific expertise to help solve practical problems. Work specifically with distressed businesses by analyzing their financial and operational performance, their legal transaction documents, and potential and current capitalization amounts and sources to identify, negotiate, and/or recommend restructuring, refinancing, or raising new debt. Partner with other professionals (lawyers, external investment staff, and business managers) to develop transaction materials and details. Requirements: Must have a Bachelors degree in Finance, Statistics, Business Administration or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in the position offered or a related role at a hedge fund primarily focused on investing in stressed and distressed corporate debt and special situations. Full term experience must include: Conducting company research through a variety of data sources, including industry-specific publications, management and investor relations meetings, and expert interviews, to synthesize analysis into written reports; Utilizing R or Python programming languages to retrieve and analyze non-financial data, including key performance indicators, for investment-making processes; Short selling bonds and other @types of corporate credit; Analyzing balance sheet, income statements, and cash flow statements to conduct financial statement analysis; Building and analyzing financial and operating models using MS Excel and Bloomberg to evaluate investment opportunities; Utilizing investment valuation methodologies to compare the relative value between securities, including specific experience valuing corporate loans, corporate bonds and public equities; Structuring and negotiating deals, including restructuring, acquisitions, debt offerings and equity offerings; Analyzing legal documents including bond indentures, term loan credit agreements, and various bankruptcy court filings; Utilizing MS Excel to interpret large amounts of alternative data, including specifically credit card data and geolocation data, and deriving insights; Identifying and managing the risk of investments, including the use of probability weighted stress testing and scenario analysis; and Working on a small investment team of 2 people or less. Both domestic and international travel required 5% of the time. May work remotely up to 2 days/week from the New York City area. Salary is $300,000/year; 40 hrs./wk.
