The agency is located at the George Herbert Walker Bush State Building located in the Capitol Complex at 1801 N. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701. General Description:The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is seeking a talented marketing and graphics expert, and visual designer to tell the story of the agencyand#8217;s refreshed brand and innovative work. This role will work independently and is responsible for managing the brand and visual style of the Agency, as well as the overall design of agency materials and sub-brands; ensuring brand continuity in print and digital environments; leading creative idea development and creating design concepts; directing and developing artwork and layouts; and designing print and digital materials. This position will also play a key role in the agencyand#8217;s social media strategy via creating graphics and videos, and posting on social media platforms. Must have expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and feel confident in executing design concepts in non-design applications, including Word and Power Point. Work is performed under limited supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. This position is authorized for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees are required to work in the office three (3) days per week, with the remaining two days eligible for telework. Specific in-office days may be determined by the department to meet business needs.General Duties and Responsibilities:and#183; Maintains visual appearance and brand continuity of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and its sub-brands in print and digital environments.and#183; Contributes to creative brief development; develops and frames design concepts in line with creative briefs that tell the story of the agencyand#8217;s brand; applies concepts to marketing campaigns and materials.and#183; Leads creative production, providing high-quality, complete deliverables, creating style/brand guides and templates where needed.and#183; Develops visual content for social media, digital advertising, signage, and other print and digital materials.and#183; Obtains art and photographs for presentations, publications, and audiovisual productions.and#183; Contributes to an effective presence on social media, including posting approved messages.and#183; Designs and creates charts and infographics.and#183; Shoots and edits videos for the agency.and#183; Designs, lays out, and produces written reports in InDesign.and#183; Provides art direction and design guidance for website and digital apps and assists in the design production of user experiences.and#183; Supports staff on visual design of Power Point presentations.and#183; Prepares deliverables for handoff to developers, program staff, printers, etc.and#183; Collaborates with marketing, product, and engineering teams and programmatic staff to design marketing materials and web experiences that help extend brand messaging.and#183; Independently manage workflow and projects.and#183; Consults with vendors and clients on project needs and present concepts with supporting brand and marketing rationale.and#183; Work performed on multiple projects concurrently, under pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations.and#183; Extended work hours may be required.and#183; Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:and#183; Knowledge of trendsand developments in design and visual style and branding.and#183; Knowledge of best practices for print and digital design.and#183; Skill in using personalcomputers, databases, and general office software, including Microsoft word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.and#183; Skill in using creative digital tools, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.and#183; Skill in project management, collaboration, research and problem-solving.and#183; Skill in using video cameras and video production.and#183; Ability to develop and execute creative concepts and provide rationale for chosen direction to internal and external clients and colleagues.and#183; Ability to take in, understand, and @contextualize new, complex information quickly.and#183; Ability to think and plan strategically.and#183; Ability to plan, organize, effectively manage, and complete multiple priorities and projects concurrently.and#183; Ability to take initiative; work independently; and make decisions using sound judgment, analytical thinking, and sound reasoning.and#183; Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and groups.and#183; Ability togather, analyze, translate, and communicatecomplicated information in a clear, effective, organized, concise, professional, and courteous way with individuals from diverse social, ethnic, economic, and cultural backgrounds.and#8239;and#183; Ability to consistently meet milestones and final deadlines; and to keep management abreast of issues.and#183; Ability to perform detailed work accurately.and#183; Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability toward changes in assignments.and#183; Ability to work in Adobe Creative Suite. Qualifications: Required Minimum Education and Experience:and#183; Bachelorand#8217;s Degree in design or related field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.and#183; Three years of experience in graphics and visual design.Preferred:and#183; Experience working in higher education, nonprofit or state agencyand#183; Experience being part of marketing, communications and/or creative division.and#183; Additional years of experience in graphic design and art direction.and#183; Experience in inspiring and mentoring junior designers and managing creative vendor relationships.and#183; Portfolio demonstrating a strong sense of concept development.Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions:Work is performed in a standard office environment and requires:Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance at work;
