Overview
BUSINESS MODELER (EAS):
Bowhead is seeking an experienced Business Modeler to join our team at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH to support the Air Force Research Labs RQ Directorate. The Business Modeler's primary goal is to create models that help stakeholders understand, improve, and automate how RQ operates, especially in support of digital transformation, systems engineering or process optimization. The position will be part of a team consisting of Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, and Model-Based System Engineers.
Responsibilities
Requirements gathering and analyses by engaging stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate business and technical requirements by using interviews, workshops, surveys, and observation to understand business needs and translate high-level need into detailed and functional and non-functional requirements.
Develop Business Process Models by creating visual representations of current and future business processes using standards like Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN), capturing workflows, decisions, roles, and system interactions clearly and accurately, and supporting business process reengineering or improvement initiatives.
Analyze and optimize processes by identifying inefficiencies, redundancies, or gaps in business processes, proposing changes to improve flow, reduce waste, or enable automation, and collaborating with business analysts, subject matter experts, and operations teams to validate findings.
Create Conceptual and Logical models by developing business capability models, information models, or value streams to align with enterprise architecture or transformation goals and using modeling tools to create and manage artifacts.
Support Digital Transformation by translating business needs into formal models that feed into systems engineering or digital twin environments aligning modeling work with enterprise architecture, system requirements, and IT capabilities.
Facilitate stakeholder understanding by Serve as a translator between business and technical teams by using visual models to explain complex processes or systems.
Present models in stakeholder meetings, workshops, or architecture reviews.
Maintain modeling standards and governance by ensuring consistency by adhering to modeling standards, conventions, and version control, and participating in or support governance boards that review and approve business models.
Collaborate across disciplines by working with business analysts, enterprise architects, systems engineers, and developers to ensure models align with organizational goals.
Enable automation and system design by identifying areas for business rule extraction and decision modeling, and supporting workflow automation, PRA and low-code solutions through process models.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in applying MBSE principles and tools to complex system development projects.
A minimum of five (5+) years of relevant experience in business analysis, enterprise architecture, and business modeling using different software programs.
Expert-level proficiency in modeling languages such as SysML and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
Hands-on experience with industry-standard modeling tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, Aris).
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies (e.g., requirements analysis, architecture design, verification & validation).
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., INCOSE standards, DoD Architectural Framework (DoDAF)).
Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
