Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Sparks, Maryland. This position involves supporting year-end financial activities, assisting with budget preparation, and ensuring accurate tracking of grant spending within a non-profit environment. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid background in financial reporting and reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

Manage month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.

Prepare and review general ledger entries to maintain a complete and correct financial record.

Perform detailed account and bank reconciliations to ensure alignment with financial statements.

Track and report on grant spending, ensuring alignment with budgetary guidelines.

Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets, providing insights and recommendations.

Generate comprehensive financial reports, including endowment fund and annual financial reporting.

Support audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.

Monitor cash flow and analyze growth percentages to provide actionable insights.

Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of financial tasks and projects. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the non-profit sector.

Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance.

Expertise in journal entries and account reconciliations.

Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations and financial reporting.

Experience with tracking and reporting on endowment funds.

Familiarity with annual budgeting and financial planning.

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a contract position.
