Summary About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. This position will be a permanent fill. Responsibilities As a Lead Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation), you will: Coach, facilitate, resolve work problems and participate in the work of the MEPS Processing Element. Certify that enlistment has been properly conducted by verifying system displayed contract is complete and all additional disclosed information has been supplied to the service representative. Provide routine technical assistance or training to users of automated personnel database systems. Greet applicants, track enrollment, movement, and processing progress. Provide input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems Perform Human Resources Assistant duties identical to those led. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Typing Proficiency: In addition to meeting the above qualifications, applicants will need to self-certify their typing proficiency. A qualified typist can @type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
