The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
This position provides software development support to the Command & Control Systems (C&C) directorate under the Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering and Test Contract (COMET) at NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The C&C organization is responsible for the design, development, sustaining, testing, and operations of the Control systems within the KSC Launch Control Center (LCC). Individuals will work in a dynamic team environment and will be responsible for software design, implementation, testing, user support, maintenance, and operations of software systems in support of the KSC Launch Control Center (LCC). The employee will be a part of the Multiflow team working on the analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software for the Launch Control System. The team is expected to work closely with other software developers, testers, analysts, architects, and engineers to exceed customer expectations. The team works within a flexible hybrid remote work environment with two days remote and three days on site.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Work with the Operating System team and Users to develop enhanced system provisioning strategies
Perform software development activities following design, coding standards and documented configuration management processes.
Perform technical reviews of design documentation, code, and test tools.
Adhere to software plans, procedures, processes, and standards.
Improve existing software applications, adding new features and testing changes for robustness.
Create and develop new processes and procedures to meet customer requirements and expectations.
Create and run test procedures to evaluate the performance of system software.
Document test results and associated issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution.
Job Requirements
Experience with RPM (Red Hat Package Manager) and DNF (Dandified YUM) is required
Experience in Ansible Automation Platform with playbook creation and troubleshooting is required
Experience with Linux administration is required, preferably Red Hat
Possess strong initiative,teamwork, problemsolving, and customer engagement skills.
Ability to analyze information and provide creative solutions.
Experience with Software Development Fundamentals and Software Development Processes.
Requires close communication and collaboration with end users, customers, and other members of the team.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (MS Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and internet browsers.
To be successful, the candidate shall have the ability to work towards deadlines and delivery quality products on their assignments.
Ability to work independently and on teams.
Evaluate all safety critical software for both its safety as an independent component, and for how it contributes to the overall system safety for project, program, or facility.

May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
