Purpose of the Role

The successful and safe delivery of programmed Rail Milling Operations and Maintenance. Lead both Maintenance and Operational Rail Milling Shifts

Person Specification

Engineering background, be it electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or all, looking to further their career in the rail industry.

Applicants will have to have a keen eye for detail, the ability to work alone or as part of a team and a "can do" attitude when faced with solving problems.

Lodging away from home will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Leading both day and night shifts to operate/maintain the machine safely and effectively, in accordance with the VMI and Colas policies.

Reporting any machine defects to the Fleet Engineer and/or Colas Rail Control, where appropriate, both in real time and via end of shift reports.

Collating the data output from the machine where applicable.

To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.

Act as 1st line on-site management

Assist in maintaining quality systems, machine safety packs and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing and making recommendations for updating as required

Deliver and record Team Briefs, Safety Briefs, Pre-Start Safety Tours,

Undertake any other duties if assessed as competent to do so

As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.

Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time
