Location: Aug Prep North Campus

Reports To: K4-8 Principal and High School Principal with program support from the Director of Arts

Role Description:
Aug Prep North is seeking a dynamic and visionary Theatre Teacher to launch and build our K4-9 theatre program, inspiring students to discover their voices, creativity, and confidence through performance. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator with a passion for theatre and storytelling to lay the foundation for a growing program that will expand through high school in future years.
In This Role, You Will:
Academics
Develop and implement a comprehensive K4-9 theatre curriculum that spirals skill development and fosters creativity, collaboration, and self-expression.
Launch Spotlight Theatre (K4-2nd), introducing students to the joy of performance through creative play, storytelling, and ensemble activities.
Build Center Stage Theatre (3rd-5th), deepening students' understanding of acting fundamentals, improvisation, character development, and storytelling.
Guide 6th grade students through script work, blocking, characterization, directing, and basic technical theatre concepts as you build out Second Act Theatre
Teach Intro to Theatre (9th grade), establishing core skills in acting, ensemble work, theatre history, and stage production as you build our Encore Theatre program at the high school level
Lay the groundwork for future course offerings such as Acting I & II, Technical Theatre, Film, and Musical Theatre as the program expands through high school.
Classroom Environment and Student Relationships
Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages students to take creative risks and grow in confidence.
Build trusting relationships with students so each child feels known, seen and loved.
Serve as the cultural and spiritual model for their students, always interacting respectfully and striving to demonstrate God's love to their students and families.
Support students' character development by modeling and reinforcing the Aug Prep Way: serving in love with integrity, respect, courage and perseverance.
Professional
Collaborate with the Arts Team to support interdisciplinary learning, cross-grade arts events, and school-wide celebrations of creativity.
Integrate with arts and classroom teachers to connect theatre with literacy, social-emotional learning, and faith-based character education.
Communicate proactively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues, providing frequent updates on student progress, classroom activities, and school initiatives.
Work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues, supervisors, students, parents/guardians, and community members, maintaining positive, solution-oriented relationships that foster a strong, inclusive environment for optimal learning.
Seek professional growth through building and department meetings/professional development, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars/in-services on a continuous basis.
Schoolwide Support and Supervision
Participate in school-wide and end-of-year Arts Live events to highlight student growth, joy, and artistic expression.
Showcase student work across the school to honor achievement, build pride, and celebrate the diverse artistic gifts of students on a regular basis
Monitor and support students during morning arrival, lunch, recess and dismissal.
Serve with a flexible, open heart that recognizes no duty is outside the scope of your role, we are a team that is stronger together in service of our students.
What We're Looking For
A passionate educator who believes in the power of theatre to transform confidence, communication, and community.
Degree in Theatre Education or related field , including any other requirements for accreditation (Master's degree a plus). State teaching license not required.
Creative and organized program-builder capable of establishing new traditions and curriculum from the ground up.
Enthusiasm for joining a collaborative arts team and shaping the next chapter of Aug Prep North's arts program.
Ability to work collaboratively across two buildings on the same campus, integrating theatre arts into a growing school community.
Ability to direct and produce an after-school all-school production with support of a technical director.
Commitment to faith-based education and to nurturing students' character alongside their artistic growth.
Self-directed, organized, collaborative and comfortable supporting a program that is growing rapidly and building identity.
Active participation in a Christian church.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated skill in fostering collaboration, reflection, and expressive learning through drama and performance.
Strong background in theatre education, performance, or directing, with experience teaching across age levels preferred.
Ability to adapt instruction to early childhood, elementary, and middle school developmental stages.
Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity, and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of St. Augustine Prep.
