QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Experience and educational background in training, management, development, and retention of advocates. Additional experiences in the following areas are preferred: volunteer management/supervision, the civil court system, and issues related to child abuse and neglect. The Volunteer Supervisor must also possess strong organizational skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills, knowledge of childrens services, and the ability to manage volunteers effectively. Additionally, they must demonstrate effective time management and the capacity to plan and lead strategically.

PAY HOURLY

Starting pay $18 an hour, with potential for a higher rate based on relevant experience. This position does not include health, retirement, or other employment benefits. The position is part-time, up to 30 hours a week. Overtime pay is not provided. If weekly hours exceed 30, additional hours must be flexed by reducing hours the following week.

Primary Responsibilities

The Volunteer supervisors main responsibility is to monitor and address volunteers growth in skills and advocacy on their cases, ensuring that children assigned to the CASA program receive appropriate advocacy services. This position supervises CASA Volunteers during the entire case (from assignment through closing of the case). This position involves casework primarily in the state of Texas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

All newly hired Volunteer Supervisors are required to attend and complete the volunteer pre-service training as well as complete 12 hours of continuing education per year (to include, but not limited to: conferences, Caf CASA, workshops offered in the community, and CASA College).

Supervise volunteers assigned to your case load following the successful completion of training, courtroom observation, and swearing in of a volunteer. Provide ongoing monitoring and guidance to volunteers.

Part-time Volunteer Supervisors will supervise up to a maximum of 20 volunteers and a maximum of 30 cases.

The number of volunteers is reduced pro rata for staff required to perform duties other than the supervision of volunteers.

Maintain case files according to compliance and procedures. This includes (but may not be limited to) Volunteer assigned cases, personally assigned cases, and Grant Personnel Activity Reports.

Serves as a CASA Advocate for a child when unable to have an Advocate on the case, ensuring the childs needs and all case related responsibilities are met while the child is in foster care

This position supervises CASA Volunteers during the entire case (from assignment through closing of the case). This position involves casework primarily in the state of Texas.

Provide support and guidance for volunteers on cases, and supervise all aspects of each case monthly and from beginning to end.

Coordinate and submit court reports to the Executive Director for final approval.

Facilitates effective communication between volunteers, Child Protective Services, courts, attorneys, and other relevant parties and consults with such regarding volunteer assignments. Represent CASA positively and professionally.

Communicate the status of current cases to the Executive Director regularly, at least monthly.

Ensure proper procedures for closing of a case are performed and comply with the policies and procedures.

Provide the volunteer advocate with case information in a timely manner.

Ensure that court reports are reviewed, cosigned with the volunteer, and filed/emailed to all parties 10 days prior to court hearings. Submit reports to the Executive Director for final approval 15 days before they are due.

Assist in developing and implementing program goals.

Superior oral and communication skills with the ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower CASA volunteers to be effective in their roles.

Ability to work cooperatively with different @types of personalities and professionals, including individuals of diverse racial/economic/cultural backgrounds.

Participate in volunteer training and help coordinate volunteer recognition.

Report concerns regarding an advocate to the Executive Director.

Report a volunteers concerns to the Executive Director.

Evaluate Advocates regularly, at least once a year, and at the closing of each case.

Understand and comply with grant requirements.

Understand Texas CASA and National CASA standards, vision, and mission.

Enter documentation and data in Optima and ensure that the data entered is current and reviewed regularly, at least weekly.

Will be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Accurately track and record a daily calendar with your hourly work logs to be completed weekly and submitted to the Executive Director.

Will be required to travel some.

Will participate in program events, projects, and other duties as required.
