Iowa State University is seeking a detail-oriented (MLT) Medical Laboratory Technician to support diagnostic testing services in the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position plays a vital role in performing diagnostic tests across various species, ensuring quality control, and assisting in training future veterinary professionals in a clinical and research laboratory environment. If you're looking to get into animal diagnostics, this is your opportunity - no prior animal experience is required, and we will provide full training on the veterinary side.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic testing, including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, and cytology, on multi-species samples.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers.
Manage blood banking and coagulation procedures.
Enter and review test data in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Train students, residents, and new staff on lab procedures and equipment.
Conduct quality control checks and routine instrument maintenance.
Maintain lab inventory, organize referral test submissions, and update lab records.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
