Building Maintenance Custodian

Starting salary is $24.69 per hour, along with a generous benefits package. Applicants must have a valid NY State driver license and possess good mechanical ability. Applications may be obtained at the Massena Town Hall located at 60 Main Street Room 3 Town Clerks office, Massena, NY 13662 beginning November 24, 2025 and dropped off to the same location no later than 4 PM on December 5th 2025. CLEAR SNOW DURING WINTER MONTHS. MAIN DOORS, GLASS, DOOR HANDLES AND METAL WILL BE CLEANED OF ALL FINGERPRINTS. CHECK DAILY, CLEAN AS NEEDED. CARPETS AT MAIN ENTRANCE WILL BE VACUUM TWICE A WEEK, OR AS NEEDED. CARPETS WILL BE VACUUM EVERYDAY DURING WINTER MONTHS. MAIN HALLS FIRST AND SECOND FLOORS AND STAIRS FLOOR AND STAIRS ARE TO BE SWEPT DAILY. FLOORS AND STAIRS WILL BE STRIPPED AND WAXED YEARLY. ( FALL ) FLOORS AND STAIRS WILL BE TOUCHED UP WEEKLY. FLOORS AND STAIRS WILL BE MOPPED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS AS NEEDED. CLEAN DRINKING FOUNTAINS DAILY. OFFICE AREAS WASTE RECEPTACLES WILL BE DUMPED START OF SHIFT. CARPETS WILL BE VACUUMED TWICE A WEEK, OR AS NEEDED. CARPETS WILL BE VACUUMED EVERYDAY DURING WINTER MONTHS. WILL SCHEDULE AN OUTSIDE CONTRACTOR IN ONCE A YEAR TO CLEAN CARPETS THOROUGHLY. ALL OFFICE EQUIPMENT WILL BE DUSTED WEEKLY. ( EXAMPLE: COPIER ) ALL WINDOW SILLS, OFFICE FURNISHINGS WILL BE DUSTED WEEKLY. ( EXAMPLE: TABLES, FILING CABINETS AND SHELVES ) MARKS, FINGERPRINTS AND DUST WILL BE REMOVED FROM DOORS, DOOR HANDLES AND GLASS MONTHLY. TOUCH UP SCRAPES AND SCRATCHES WITH PAINT. ALL COBWEBS WILL BE REMOVED AS THEY APPEAR. WINDOWS WILL BE CLEANED AS NEEDED. ALL VENTS WILL BE CLEANED AS NEEDED. ALL FURNITURE WILL BE STRAIGHTEN UP AFTER VACUUMING.

REFILL SOAP AND PAPER DISPENSERS. CLEAN AND SANITIZE TOILETS, URINALS AND SINKS. WIPE DOWN / SANITIZE WALLS AND STALL PARTITIONS. ( WEEKLY ) MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES REPLACE ALL BURNT LIGHT BULBS THROUGHOUT BUILDING. CLEAN AND MAINTAIN JANITORIAL CLOSETS ORDER ALL CLEANING SUPPLIES AND PAPER PRODUCTS. MONITOR THE TOWN HALLS HEATING, ALARM SYSTEM, GENERATOR, ELEVATOR AND COOLING SYSTEMS. MAINTAIN BOILER ROOM. HOUSEKEEPING AND EQUIPMENT. MAINTAIN TOWN OF MASSENA SIX AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS ( AED ). INSPECT TOWN HALL ROOF AND AIR HANDING UNITS. ( WEEKLY ) REMOVAL OF SNOW FROM ALLEY-WAY DURING WINTER MONTHS. ANSWER ALL PANIC ALARMS. CONTINUE TO SUPPORT TOWN OF MASSENA MUSEUM. ( EXAMPLE: SNOW REMOVAL FROM SIDE WALKS AND FRONT STEPS MAINTENANCE ISSUES, CUSTODIAL SUPPORT AND LAWN MAINTENANCE. ) SUPPORT Staff DURING ELECTIONS SEASON. SUPPORT THE TOWN OF MASSENA LIBRARY WHEN CUSTODIAL EMPLOYEE IS ON VACATION, OUT SICK, OR MOVING FURNITURE. SUPPORT THE TOWN OF MASSENA HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT DURING THE WINTER MONTHS BY PICKING UP GARBAGE AT TOWN BUILDINGS IF HIGHWAY CREW IS PLOWING ON FRIDAYS. SUPPORT TOWN HALL EMPLOYEE'S - MOVING FURNITURE, FILES, BOXES ETC. SETUP CONFERENCE ROOMS UP FOR MEETINGS.
