JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Title: Dean of Students Reports To: President FLSA Status: Exempt Annual Contract: Full-Time 52 Weeks Rate of Pay: Dependent on Qualifications Posting Date: November 19, 2025 Application Deadline: December 3, 2025, or Until Filled Start Date: As Soon as Possible In-Person - Not Remote General Position Summary: The Dean of Students is responsible for overall leadership and administration of the student services department, ensuring that all students have access to the full range of student services the University has to offer. Activities within this department include Student Admissions, Advising, Orientation, Retention, ADA Compliance, GED support & testing, Work Based Learning, Academic Preparedness, and student housing. This position works collaboratively with students, the Chief Academic Officer, faculty, and staff to promote student success. This position reports to the President. The Dean is also responsible for fiscal management related to Student Services. In addition will supervise and evaluate the student services staff directly reporting to the position. Key Responsibilities: Provides leadership and oversees the development, revision, and implementation of policies, procedures and operational activities related to all facets of student services in collaboration with faculty, student services staff, and administration Plans, implements, and coordinates the following areas: Admissions, Enrollment Management (completion, persistence, and retention), New Student Orientation, Advising, Graduation, Student Records Leads, plans, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates all programs and services in the Student Affairs department for effectiveness and efficiency Provides leadership/direction/coordination for developing and implementing recruitment and retention plans in collaboration with program faculty and applicable staff Develops mechanisms to ensure quality services to students from recruitment through graduation. Assists with grant writing that relates to student services Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of student assessment efforts. Represents the University at local, regional, and state meetings and conferences related to student services Advises campus staff and students on issues relating to Student Services Department policy, program, and administration Assists with the preparation and management of budgets for assigned areas of responsibility Works collaboratively with Student Service Staff and Academic Affairs on the University catalog and constructing course schedules Maintains and leads annual review of the Student Handbook Appoints a committee and prepares for graduation Provides leadership in planning and executing several annual public-facing events for the University Oversees the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure equal access to services for students with disabilities Conducts program review for assigned areas and makes recommendations on areas for improvement and program changes Directly responsible for ensuring student concerns and complaints are heard and dealt with according to University policies and procedures Ensures all department reporting is done in a timely manner Resolves or assists in the resolution of problems and/or complaints and initiates corrective action as appropriate Serves on various University committees and participates in professional organizations as appropriate to assignment Serves as a member of the Executive Council Co-advises the Student Senate with the Associate Dean Collaborate, cooperate, and partner with both internal and external customers, including Tribal agencies, businesses, and industry Performs other related duties as required or assigned Reportability: Reports to the University President Supervision: Student Housing Director Student Success Program Director Retention Director Outreach Site Staff Financial Aid Director Enrollmentand Recruitment Specialist ** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: Master\'s degree in appropriate higher educational field with progressively responsible experience in higher education Minimum of four years\' experience in higher education administration ** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Other: Application Process: Application Deadline: Until Filled Please submit either hard or electronic copy of a cover letter, an updated resume, unofficial transcripts, and a completed LCO Ojibwe University job application (available online at www.lco.edu/hr) to the address directly below.
