POSITION: Part Time Adult Education Instructor LOCATION: Sartell Middle School TYPE OF POSITION: Hourly Monday/Wednesday Evening 5:15-8:15 SALARY RANGE: $40/hour REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Adult Education Programs SUPERVISION: None QUALIFICATIONS: Required Current K-12 teaching license (any subject area); licensure in ABE; or BA or MA in ESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Bilingual Education Preferred Previous experience working with adults POSITION SUMMARY: This role successfully manages a single classroom with students across all proficiency levels (e.g., CASAS/NRS Levels 1-6). The instructor must be adept at differentiating instruction and fostering a collaborative learning environment; creating a safe and caring climate and culture to prepare, engage, educate, empower, and inspire all learners in partnership with their surrounding community to be successful in today's and tomorrow's society. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Differentiated Instruction: Plan and deliver dynamic, multi-modal lessons that address listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills by providing tasks appropriate for various levels in the same class period. Resource Management: Effectively utilize a variety of teaching materials, technology, and learning stations (or small groups) to provide focused practice for different student levels simultaneously. Student-Centered Learning: Facilitate a classroom environment that encourages peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and practical application of English for life, work, and community involvement. Assessment & Tracking: Conduct formal and informal assessments (including sending students to Quarryview for CASAS testing, as required) and maintain timely, accurate records of student attendance and progress toward their educational goals. Curriculum Integration: Integrate life skills, civics, career readiness, and digital literacy into language instruction. Professionalism: Participate in required staff development, curriculum planning meetings, and maintain professional communication with program staff.
