Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development and Enhancement (35%)
Design, develop, and implement new web applications, databases, and APIs.
Maintain and enhance existing C# applications, websites, databases, and user interfaces.
Design, code, and test change requests and bug fixes.
Ensure optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
Implement secure coding practices and follow data protection standards.
Collaboration and Support (20%)
Work with teams to coordinate support for ongoing production applications and new initiatives.
Provide end-user support for the suite of applications.
Participate in collaborative reviews of applications and data architecture.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement (15%)
Meet with clients to define and document application design and technical architecture.
Work with data owners to develop customized reports, exports, and dashboards.
Project Management and Documentation (10%)
Define and track scope requirements for projects.
Document technical specifications and design decisions.
Maintain documentation in team repositories.
Code Review and Quality Assurance (10%)
Review code from other developers and provide guidance.
Test all work carefully in multiple browsers to ensure compatibility.
Version Control and Integration (10%)
Maintain code base and version control using Visual Studio and GitHub.
Create and maintain database and API integration processes; troubleshoot as needed.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Additionally, an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
Preferred Qualifications:
One or more (1+) years of JavaScript, HTML/CSS experience.
One or more (1+) years of C#, ASP.NET experience.
Experience with MVC architectural patterns.
Experience with responsive and adaptive design.
Experience with REST API development and integration.
Current or recent experience working in a higher education environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Ability to develop web applications, including good user experience and user interface design.
Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, and JavaScript frameworks such as JQuery, React, or Angular.
Familiarity with accessibility standards.
Knowledge and understanding of version control systems, such as Git.
Ability to work with enterprise database management systems (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2).
Committed to vigorously testing all code.

The SOM IS Shared Services team has an opening for a full-time Application Developer. This entry-level professional position functions as a full-stack web application and database developer for the CU School of Medicine. The developer will work collaboratively with a team to maintain and enhance custom applications such as PRISM, FIMS, which support critical functions across the School of Medicine. This developer will also work on new custom development initiatives within the SOM IS team. The developer will contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, including designing, building, testing, and supporting solutions across the database, business logic, API, and user interface layers to meet institutional needs. The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $64,176 to $81,636.
